I distinctly remember seeing a 3 winged escort cossie years ago. After market obvs, probably in Germany.

So nothing new. yes it looked 'stupid'.

How can you watch series 17 in the UK if you don't have Sky/Virgin? It doesn't seem to be available on iTunes etc?
Now TV on a rolling £7.99 per month may be another option, just checked the Escort RS Cosworth episode is available.

Yes - I noticed the gaps too, and they were doing their best to keep the connecting areas (where the gaps were) well out of shot in the 'finished article' film clips.

I did sigh when the previous owner turned up to buy it again... 'Come on Mike.. I thought your part of the job was proper selling! not just buying'

Not complaining too much though, after all - its a Cossy on TV.. I learned a bit and it entertained me - job done.

...Was veeeeeeery dubious of the decision to add the 3rd wing though.

Thanks for the hint -- just did the same. Don't really understand why full fat Sky (=$$$$$) has ads but NowTV doesn't.

I thought it wasn't a bad episode TBH.

Gone from the world's biggest TV motor show to wiggling wires on a Morris Minor in a backstreet garage for 100 quid. Ouch.

I was completely agnostic about whether it was Edd or Antt in the show but a few things stood out for me:

- Why the USA? It was originally a Brit show. It's presented by Brits. Put them back in a dank farmyard workshop where they belong

- Could Antt be any more irritating?

- Was it just me or did he really look like Billy Bodge, compared to Edd? Whether or not Edd really did the work himself, he always appeared to be putting some thought in and considering the problem, rather than running round the workshop with a spanner between his teeth and just launching into things gung-ho, which seems the new way. And the third spoiler? Held together with screws and a chopped up bit of dowel? It's hardly GMG levels of craftsmanship!

I think it would still work for me if they came home and bought/sold cars in the UK but the USA thing is just as irritating as Antt.

oh dear.... dear dear dear.....

He certainly must be kicking himself.Once the new series came out, and Ant was established, Ed became old news and lost any heat / power to get his own show.

Such a shame as out of the pair I prefer Ed.

Anyone noticed how unhealthy Mike is starting to look ? He has certainly been over doing the US burgers and his hair is becoming patching and he's always sweating, basically he looks a mess.

Noticed on Discovery that there is a new Uk version of a car show starting on 8/1/. Some English car customizer..... perhaps its time for a new show, a new presenter...

I don't think Edd was ever going to get his own show, nor was it his intention. I don't think he has what it takes to be a front-man in terms of ego.

The thing that killed Wheeler Dealers for me was its creeping (and then galloping when Velocity took over production) Americanisation and Edd leaving was just a symptom of that. Unless the format can recover enough of what made it popular in the first place then it doesn't matter who does the spannering. I'm sick of hearing Mike say 'rust-free east-coast car'.

As I hinted at before - I enjoy watching the French ones as it is old-style Wheeler Dealers done with R5 Turbos and the like.

Thoroughly enjoyed the new series, ended up ploughing through them all online. I really liked Edd but prefer Ant's style, especially him walking through some of the techy stuff via diagrams and more cheerful demeanor. Brewer's health or the fact it's in the US doesn't bother me. Hope they continue making more.

Pretty much business as usual for me, I enjoyed it with Edd and I think Ant is doing a sterling job, Mike can grate but I do like him really, learnt quite a bit off those programs over the years.

Edd turned up on the latest episode of "Project Binky", which makes Wheeler Dealers look like full on hollywood razamatazz, excruciating detail and geekery but magnificent viewing, like Special Brew after drinking Carling.

I did meet Ed at his workshop a couple of years ago to discuss some business, he admitted he was trying to do his own program restoring cars (this was when mike was doing his own US thing)

I just don't think he quite knew what to pitch that did not look like Wheeler Dealers,

Nice Bloke very engaging and knowledgeable, Even got to see some Wheeler dealers filming with him when I was there.

Watched the first episode last night not expecting much after all the comments.

However i actually really enjoyed it, Ant seemed to do a great job and great enthusiasm.

Meh!

I always thought that Edd's realism and 'come back down to earth please' vehicle assessments were the ideal counter to Mike's 'Arfur Daley' gloss over the issues bullstting. I'm not convinced that having two presenters with the demeanour of someone who has had one-too-many energy drinks is what I want to see.

Also I can't be bothered with the incessant twangy guitar music regardless of whether it fits the image of the car being worked on or the mood of the moment. One less-commended feature of preVelocity WD was they had a variety of musical themes that suited what they were showing, like Edd pondering an issue while telling us his thought process in voiceover.

Superficially the show looks slicker but it comes across as less well thought out - typical U.S. style over substance.

Bottom line is it isn't the same show any more and what it has become isn't something I want to invest time in. Too much other good TV around these days.

I agree in that it's not the same show anymore but I don't think that's a bad thing. I'm in Canada so have gotten used to the north American format so that may help. Plus I don't mind Mike, like ant and the car selections so far have been great in my opinion. Loved the saab and celica episodes although I didn't realize just how slow the celica supra was, was a huge fan of that car especially when a chap on my road bought a new c reg and it looked like the most daunting thing I'd seen at age 10.

Very weak episode with the Supra. Very little content. Should have shown how they turned the paint around.

Lovely car though & Ant is settling in, albeit a little robot like.

I haven't seen this yet but the amount of space available to put extra bits on the tailgate surface is severely limited by the standard

lower spoiler and the central post holding up the upper spoiler.

Since the final spoiler cost $5000, I suspect that Ant's version was reworked and used as the buck to produce a mould.

Can be cheaper than that if you check for vouchers (e-mailed codes) on eBay. Just make sure that they can be used on an existing account and check the expiry date.

Or gift cards - 3 months for £15 / 5 months for £25 - from the likes of Amazon or Currys.
