OK, let's run with this: what is your worst possible combination of three celebrities to present TG? I'm going with:

James Corden
Davina McCall
Jamie Oliver

There have been a few posts on here that give the impression the posters believe the BBC could summon whoever they wished to present the show. It's entirely possible they couldn't afford some of the suggestions, and perhaps some of them wouldn't want the job anyway.

That Keith Lemon bloke or whatever his real name is.
Michael McIntire
Jimmy Carr

With a weekly guest spot of that bloke dressed up as Mrs Brown.

Oh dear. To think I just cancelled my auto renewal of Amazon Prime. I can't stand either of them and neither have any credibility as motoring journalists. I suppose it could have been worse and they could have hired that YouToober with the st eating grin.

What time is fifth gear on?

Yes, I fear they will be going down the A Question of Cars route.

Comedy for the intellectually challenged.

Grand Tour has been mostly terrible, too.

I thought MLB, Harris and Rory were doing a good job as things were.

Ironically, the show that came back from the grave probably has the most to gain from these appointments. FG producers will be giving each other high fives on this news.

The nice thing about Clarkson & Co is that despite their shenanigans over the later years, and whatever you thought of them personally, underpinning the whole programme remained a great deal of credibility. Regardless of their comedy antics, the original three really did know their stuff and cared a great deal about cars and driving.
It's always the 3 front people of the 'old' TG that are mentioned, and while rightly so, it was Andy Wilman as well as his long standing working relationship with JC that made it what it was.

Left to their own devices, the BBC are clueless, as can be seen by this even further questionable direction taken.

Flintoff and McGuiness rofl

Because these guys did such a great job with Grand Tour when they decided to go to Amazon, right?

Each to their own. Maybe he'd have fitted in with other presenters from the "urban" or "yoof" cultures, but Harris and Le Blanc definitely had chemistry so it's no wonder the producers made Reid fly solo.
There was loads of potential there for the three of them to still bounce off each other. The Harris/LeBlanc bromance could be flipped into the journos versus the luvvie actor if necessary (and was on occasion).
.
There was very little "bouncing off one another". The new Top Gear starting working when it was Harris and MLB, with Reid off doing his own thing.

Reid was passable at this, but always seemed like he had taken the wrong turn from CBBC.

yes

It's all been said before, but these two appointments underline it. Since CHMW departed the Beeb have been making the schoolboy error of thinking that all they have to do is replicate what they saw in front of them, ignoring everything that went on before, during and after filming. Ironic that they seem to have not a clue what 'production' means.

There are too many hateful people that could be on TG.

Piers Morgan
Katie Hopkins
Keith Lemon

They are just 3 candidates from the cesspool of a billion sts that could present it.

I actually think that some of these suggestions would be better than what we're going to get. It would make me watch, whereas Flintoff and McGuinness fall precisely between the two 'never heard of them so I'll give them a shout' and 'gotta watch this to see how bad it'll be' stools for me.

I won't feel I am missing something if I give them a by.

They're going to keep working through celebs until only Rolf Harris and Jonathan King will take the job. Maybe Gary Glitter will be out by then to round out the team.
