My pick for the winner of the show is the ginger fella that hasnt been in the spotlight yet. There was a few second scene in tonight's show where he was in the background. He's the winner, bet your life savings on it.

Thought Ant was going to whack him when he stood up and went around the desk!

Interrogation next week, been an interesting episode in previous series.

He looked genuinely very angry didn't he, not 'put on for TV angry'!

Yeah, that was very uncomfortable.
Though the anger seemed to subside tinyly when he had been there for 12 weeks.

I thought he was a tt for jacking it in and leaving his team short for the tyre exercise.

Is it just me or are the blokes with the biggest muscles the most mentally unstable/insecure?

They also seem to have absolutely no stamina.
I only saw this last night so I'm catching up.

It's only a theory of mine, but to me there is 'fit' and there's 'gym fit' / 'nightclub fit'. I'm actually neither, but I ride mountain bikes a lot, we've had people new to the sport come for a day out with us, 5%-10% body fat, biceps like tree trucks, and 'abs' and really, really struggle - which isn't unusual for new riders, it's not a sport it's much of a benefit to be very good at another - except perhaps football oddly, but more than that they don't seem to be able to adapt quickly to the terrain.

Unlike road biking, you need to constantly switch between cruising and bursts of energy, and it's the bursts the 'gym fit' guys struggle with, I've read it's a lack of 'fast twitch' muscles - you can lift the weights in the gym doing regulars sets of reps and then grind out a couple of miles on the treadmill / cross-trainer but I think mentally and physically when it comes to lugging heavy rucksacks up a mountain it's a lot more irregular and I think that might be what catches them out. I know a lot of gym guys are into Cross-Fit now which is more irregular, but I don't think it's close to a 'real sport'.

'NIghtclub fit' is worse than Gym fit, I see a lot of lads in my Gym,doing pullups on the machines, lifting big weights (and dropping them) and they all wear the same uniform, vest top, pair of trackies and non-sports trainers because they've never been near a cardio machine and have legs like pipe cleaners - but I didn't see anyone on the show like that.

The same, they wanted to see how he responded and he ran away.

yeah that one DS guy quite like him. I think saying sorry, taking his medicine he could have gone to the end.

I suspect they'd have binned up and not let him win though - as a lesson. I reckon he realised with no chance of winning - no point in putting himself through the pain.

Shame though - and as a result if he came in front of me, I would never hire him.

Had he got stuck into the tyre thing, and then got binned after I'd have considered hiring him,

You can be very very muscular and still possess explosive power and endurance.

To a degree, one will suffer more or equally, and that level goes down with mass.
THat heavyweight boxer was always gonna suffer, unless he was a world class athlete who did nothing else.

cant help but feel the lot of the show seems a bit set up/made for tv etc.

I remember the old SAS who dares win with shouty scottish bloke, It was more about the actual selection, obviously a huge part was fitness and mental toughness but there were exercises on navigation, fire movements, team work etc and people were elimanted based on skills/fitness, there was the odd little cry baby here and there to keep you amused on telly but that was it. None of this xfactor sob story. Im waiting for one of the contestants to say it was their life long dream to win a channel 4 show..

These revamps seem more like big brother based losely around running in a desert/jungle. Half the show is someone cuddling someone telling them they "love them brother" like they are plastered at 4am after a night out.

The escape and evasion last nights show was just stupid. They were just running around the desert at night carrying a crate. Hid over a hill from some dogs? found a massive fire in the desert which was the checkpoint and that was it. Was something like 5hrs total they said?

The lead DS guy is just hilarious, With his dyed beard, comically tight shirts and weird top heavy physique, The shots of him running with the contests always make me laugh for some reason.

I will continue watching on the count of there not being anything better but i cant feel any immersion of what they are doing is anything SAS related. May aswell be called bums and tums bootcamp.

Is this the one that had women in it a few series ago? Which made one of the instructors rethink his views on women?

I think that was the BBC2 version with Freddie Flintoff, wasn't it?

just remembered it was sas: are you tough enough with dermont oleary running about in the mix doing the crying shoulder thing. it was much better.

Forgot they threw a couple women in that one and it was before the whole gender thing, No doubt some of the women were very fit, They were all mainly endurance runners and such but the women would of never had the same weighted bergans etc.

I just took a look, it must be the Flintoff one, since I had recent memories of it. I don't recall any special weight for the women.

Just caught up and watched the last episode.

Maybe it was just clever editing but his head just completely went after being caught out, was never going to be able to push himself after that.

For some reason the DS seems to have a soft spot for number 25, to be fair I'm also kind of rooting for the skinny guy among all the 200lb + guys.
