He then said, when in that situation his eyes glaze over and he wants to kill the guy. Wasn't quite sure how to take it really, and couldn't make up my mind whether on that occasion he should have been a bit more retiring.
Definitely should've been more restrained in his approach.
SF aren't just clockwork killing machines, despite what Hollywood would have you believe, and a great deal of what they do revolves around being able to not open fire.
Power is nothing without control, as the saying goes.

Watched the 1st episode last night. What is it with the first few dropping out after a few hours beasting?

I understand it's hard but wouldn't exactly be unexpected...........

I thought it went on throughout the day? That sort of heat kills me walking to the door.

Absolutely and he showed to the DS he had no control. The only one who came out of that bout well was the lad he fought. Didn't back down, did his best and took the punches.

I thought that after the boxing they started the beasting in the evening, if I remember the 1st started handing in his number after a few hours.

Maybe just far harder than expected.

Pretty sure they said the first beasting session went from about 6pm to 1am or maybe even later, in which case it would have been bloody hard

The focus was on not letting the recruits know how long it was going to last.

Boxer man was a nervous wreck. He had discovered that punching people gave him short term bouts of delight, but underneath that, the bullying had taken its true, long-term toll on his mind.
Caught up with this last night, have to agree with you. Shame he quit, as Ant said, he will regret it.

He may regret it, but he simply wouldn't have lasted the course.

I don't think people ever recover from persistent childhood bullying. No matter how well they create a outward face as an adult, their learnt behaviour will always let them down. It's a human tragedy.

I agree, but he quit too soon & never found out just how far he could go, despite all the talk about having been to some pretty dark places through boxing.

They would have targeted him anyway, perhaps he realised that?

From how he chatted in the other bits, I don't think he had that level of awareness, it was more about covering his arse.

Just seen this. What people on here have to realise is that milling is not boxing. There are no tactics and no holding back. You simply keep punching and keep getting up until the instructors tell you to stop. I am sure the candidates would have been briefed as such.

THere are ways and ways though, any reasonable person who had such an unrealistic crazy physical advantage would not have gone in and decked him in two punches, twice. One can still make a good show of it. It was like Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

And yet there is an significant criminal investigation within the Army at this very moment concerning the execution of unarmed Afghan civilians by the SAS.
