Yeah I'm quite fit, though not got the best shoulder strength and I've got long arms.... But overhead press with a bar and 2 X 10 kg plates is something I find tough. Certainly I don't think I could do many more than about 5 in one go. And that's an easy to use bar. Not a barrel.
I think it was made worse by the weight being made up with water inside the barrels. So the weight wasn't stable; instead, constantly moving about in the shell.Given the barrels were pre-allocated, they must have made them different weights, if only between men and women.
Though, having said that, the ugly sister can out-deadlift me

Bet the production company were sh**ing bricks when that guy started running towards the canadian soldier with a rifle in his hands.
Yeah, I thought that...if you have ever seen a blank fired at close range in to a watermelon you realise how dangerous it is.Jon-Eric Hexam was killed by one (actor)
He'd have been binned on the spot.
I suspect the 6 who didn't fk up will be "helped" through to further stages.
Just finished reading the book by the DS Ollie. His army experience is interesting, and he covers a bit about the who dares win series.
It was disappointing to read (but perhaps not unsurprising) that people on the show VW only for the producers to give them a second chance as it makes good television. The example given was the massive egotistical stunt man in series 1 who during a tough challenge convinced another guy to quit with him... the DS tore him a new one for it, and he VW’d only for the producers to keep him on the show.
Still makes for good telly though!

His book is for sale at £2.50 if you buy The Sun newspaper in Tescos at the moment. It was disappointing to read (but perhaps not unsurprising) that people on the show VW only for the producers to give them a second chance as it makes good television. It's in my glovebox to be read when waiting anywhere. Haven't started it yet as it's still dark in the morning and evening!
To give a sort of rough call of the DS characters
Middleon - Brash, over confident, probably not respected by his peers
Billy - Tough operator, takes no prisoners, probably got the highest kill rate of the lot of them!
Foxy - Bit thick, but can soldier
Ollie - Thinker.
Middletons book is awful. Literally NOTHING about his time in the SBS
Have high hopes for Ollies!
I fear you may be disappointed. He didn’t actually serve that long in the SBS and doesn't dwell much on his time there, as he largely didn’t enjoy his military career. Most of it focuses on when he was doing private security in Iraq... must say I preferred Middleton book.
That said I read it in one sitting so it can’t have been bad!

It's £1.89 if you have a Kindle Thought Middleton came across as a complete knob in his book, not read Ollies yet but did enjoy Foxys.
The few bootnecks I've spoken to aren't too complimentary about Middleton either.

I thought the same, came across as a right penis. I also quite enjoyed Foxy's but it was quite depressing. With the ages of Ant and Foxy you will not be able to read about their time in the SBS other than a few bits on what they felt like etc as the younger blokes had to sign a much more strict non disclosure document so anyone from their generation up will not be able to tell all....unlike the old and the bold.

Was disappointed with Biilys book in that regard. He talks about about the paras, then it gets on to selection and then...he ends it by saying what he did in the SAS was secret and always will be and that's it Least in Foxys there was a few stories about stuff. The one where the guy runs into the house with the rocket launcher on his back that gets caught in the door way was amusing.
I have to confess the cuts surprised me!
Overall though, I think this TV series has had its day. I am watching it, but only really half heartedly. Just feels a bit dull now! I even get the feeling the presenters are only going through the motions. I'm not sure if it's because we've seen it 4 or 5 times before. Or that this series is just lacking something. I mean they did the "sit in the water" thing previously this series. So why repeat?
Also I find the mole to be strange. I get it. But unlike the Scandi SF lady in the last series. They've brought him back in? And fromt eh teaser for the next episode he's going to be just another shouting bloke beasting them.
I'd suggest that having one of your own betray you is not the best training for a fighting force that relies on complete trust in the next man. But then I wonder what the point of some of the exercises are in relation to what you'd want in a SAS soldier.
