This is what kills so many, and is the chaff that selection wants to whittle out.It is interesting to watch some people just 'give up' & almost accept their fate.

A soldier who gives up is a burden. If one in a section gives up, the mission can continue (just). SF already carry more than regular soldiers. If one in a team of four gives up, it gets very difficult as their load is now 133%.
The woman who had breast cancer a year ago is a fantastic candidate mentally, she was always going to be challenged in the physical aspect but she is the epitome of don’t judge a book by its cover a very strong person it appears.
She looks like one that the DS also can’t hide their respect for either, Ollie and Billie by far my favourite of the DS, almost helpful at times to the contestants I think they see it as helping people more than running it as a comparator to real selection.

Comedy moment last night, with no19 (I think?) being interviewed, saying "yeah, I train proper hard - if I feel like im going to be sick I just throw up and get on with it, im proper tough",
Cut immediately to the action, her calling out to the instructors "Staff, im going to be sick, im going to be sick-" then falling over rigid like one of those Fainting Goats
(Fair play though, i'd have thrown up/passed out long before that)

I'm impressed with all the contestants tbh, even the early episodes stuff looked pretty tough to me. My Mrs was surprised to see someone she knows (and loathes) on there, and still in it.

They just swear all the time for anything & at anything, just becomes the norm. Hence why it seems contrived & out of time.

Apart from Jay the new DS who was in the SAS for about 10 years. There is nothing in Billy's book about his time in the SAS though. Which is a shame, 18 years he just have some cracking stories.Legacywr said:

I think a big part of it is how they follow each contestant. They never feature some of the stronger contestants early on. The contestants they do feature, whilst maybe interesting, seem to drop out 2-3 episodes later so it's hard to form any sort of interest or connection with anyone on the show as their "stories" are so short lived and then they introduce some new characters.

SBS for Ollie, Ant and Foxy. SAS is just the cooler, more well known cadre of special forces.
The Pathfinders also have to pass a version of Selection
This has been a bit dull. Maybe the format is losing its shine.
I think it will help with selection as only people that are good a lumping stuff around in all weathers being yelled at will apply.
All the walter mitty types will think again and just go painballing a couple of times to get it out of their system.
