yeah Ant (I think his name is) definitely reacts to lying........
Yep... unless its on the interrogation phase, in which case it is encouraged.Again - the mountain climb. I agree with the poster above- the previous message was that they are a team and stick together but someone got beasted for trying to do just that.
I like the show but they are quite inconsistent now. And I dont know if it was my imagination, I watched series 1 & 2, but this time they just seem more off with the recruits. Alot more swearing a lot more aggression. I know the format etc but in places it was uncomfortable to watch
I think that a lot of people who hit adulthood before 1985 will recall exactly such behaviour during the 'recruit' stage of their career. I put recruit in inverted commas, as I don't restrict my comment to the military, but also to general corporate life. It seemed par for the course back then to be barked at by management, irrelevant of whether they wore a uniform or not, when you were at the recruit/apprentice/newbie stage.

The curse of reality TV shows? Each new series has to out-do the previous one, so the recruits become even more unsuitable, and their treatment becomes worse.Again - the mountain climb. Out of (genuine!) curiosity: how old are you?

How dare you ask my age. Late 30’s I think that a lot of people who hit adulthood before 1985 will recall exactly such behaviour during the 'recruit' stage of their career. I was meaning in the context of the show- the character assessment element, and the idea that they do go on a bit of a journey but its still a tv show and I should imagine they do not know what is expected of them. They probably have no idea if they are supposed to be tough, tough but vulnerable, vulnerable but willing to overcome. Are they a team or are they in competition with eachother
One thing that stood out was when the guy who dropped his cap handed in his arm band he was told it was not his fault but the team all have a part to play in supporting eachother. But his arm band was accepted. Bit later on that other guy - the insecure muscular guy who was adopted or something - gave his arm band in but was given the chance to take it back and try again. (But later on quit for good). Why was the first guy not given that chance.
I guess its mostly for the tv element - back story and journey. I hope it doesn’t stray too far down the xfactor drama backstory route as I enjoy the show and just want to see the challeges and the tasks and the expertise etc more

Agreed, but it will.As soon as anything becomes popular, it will draw in large numbers of 'TV advisors' who will en-stten the format.
RE- Running and Muscle.
SAS selection * The "Long Drag" is the culminating test of the endurance phase. Candidates must complete a 64 km (40 mile) hike in the Brecon Beacons in less than 20 hours while carrying a 55 pound Bergan.
Most of the TV candidates are too muscular for the above.
