This has been dragged out way too long. There was an hour's program in it at most.

I'm watching, quite enjoying it.

But, I couldn't give a st about the little train, it's the people who seem to be catching my attention?

And, that tt James May is nowhere to be seen! smile

I was wondering that one too. Perhaps it's just to make the programme more interesting?
Maybe too narrow to take whatever already goes over it, and the track, or too hump-backed or similar.

I'm not paying that much attention though, it's just on in the background. Trestle bridge looked nice, and I wasn't expecting it to take that blokes weight without drama.

I missed the start, is the track staying there, or are they just running the train along it once and then pulling it up? And only running it along in sections, not planning to do a single end to end run when it's all built?

The former.

Typical of railways, they are now running behind time.

Nice to see someone picked them up on the whole "vintage" thing.

Helix looks interesting too.

With the constant amount of small 'cheats' that they've done they may have well put a single short piece of track and the steaming engine in a rucksack, slung it over someone's shoulders and let them walk the route!

Yep, it's hardly proof of what was set out to be accomplished.
That little electric train showed just how much easier it would have been had they used one with axles the full width of the body of the train.

I just caught up with this series. Agree there were a lot of compromises along the way that did detract from the achievement as they went along. In the end though it was quite emotional and became a story about friendship and teamwork rather than the challenge itself, you could see how much it meant to them all. It was very British in the eccentric make up of the teams. I thought it was great.
