I think that's the inside of the tube they then shove the camera into.

Truly mad skills, after having laparoscopic surgery myself it's very addictive watching it happen to someone else.

"and she never moved again" what a truly sheet day at work that must've been.

Even if I had the skill and knowledge I’m not sure I could handle the guilt of the inevitable mistakes.

These guys really are the right stuff.

It was very odd watching this series, having undergone one of the shown surgeries (Pulmonary endarterectomy) by the surgeons at (old) Papworth hospital 5 years ago.

Wish I'd ask to keep my clots now...

It is amazing what they can do, that lung transplant is incredible.

This is back with a new series.

The surgeons on this program really are incredible, amazing people.

Technology and techniques are amazing and well recommended if you love science.

A difficult thing to watch, and I don't just mean the operation procedures.

Thanks for the heads up, there's little I watch on normal telly but this fascinates me.

It's BBC right?

The X-ray of the neck/spine of the car crash victim was pretty harrowing. She had a remarkable outlook on life considering.

Fascinating watch.

A must watch series. Experts at the top of their game. Brilliant.

(hopefully, no more idiots will try and politicise this)

Yes, the expressions on the faces of the staff looking at the scan result said it all. Imagine having to break that news to the patient.

Hopefully the support she gets from her family will get her through. The X-ray was quite shocking.

A brilliant series with people I can’t admire enough. How on Earth you work inside someone with an almost monochrome (red but you know what I mean) view of the work area is mighty impressive. All of the staff are tremendously talented but surgeons, for me, are the pinnacle.

Horrendous, 4 kids and no husband.

Wondering why the airbag didn't come on though, do they not work sometimes or was it faulty, I guess you'd never know.

Just brilliant.

I've watched all the previous series but hadn't realised a new series was on until my Sky box started recording something last night as I was thinking about heading to bed.

Just watched it now and it has again left me amazed by the skill of our NHS in times of personal need.

One of my closest friends is a leading spinal surgeon and what he does is utterly staggering. When they undertake global operations I am amazed with experts across the world offering knowledge and insight via fiber optics shows where we are today in 2023. Dedication and utter professionalism.

Technology and Science shown is amazing, the CT scans and instant X-ray just show you how far things have got.

Although saying that, the poor girl with the weights pulling her spine back reminded us of the 19th century show that aired for two seasons called The Knick.

I guess the practices are the same, it's the beauty of time and people not dying on the operating table that has improved for surgery.

I thought it was bad when they were trying to get a chest drain into that chap. I felt really uncomfortable........

Then that poor lady, how awful.

The previous series showed unfortunate folk who had problems that had manifested themselves over time. Still awful but just not as awful as things happening in the blink of an eye.

The work of the experts was just absolutely brilliant but I found the episode really sad frown

I imagine she was shunted and spine broken over the back of her seat. Frightening.

She's very lucky to be alive but that's a shocking life-changing injury. Poor woman.

She wasn't found for 3 hours so unlikely a second vehicle was involved
