Latest advert I saw suggests they've ruined a 2.8i Capri. I could live with the V8 but those arches and grill look bloody awful.

Why can't we have a proper TV show about restomod cars here in the UK? You only have to look at the Readers Cars section on here and there are some awesome builds going on.

Figured I would write to Quest and ask them to explain the programs claims etc.

Their response….

By the way, I didn't say I enjoyed it.

cjs racing.

I thought destroying the Landy was bad enough, but destroying this Capri is sacrilege.

Yes, E plate ,one of the last.

Why not just butcher a 280 Brooklands ?

Anyhoo ,stupid comment re "never seen sidepipes on one of these"

Every dodgy custom car Capri ,Cortina etc of the 70s and 80s had them.

At least Ant wasn't distracted by a bike this week.

Saw the trailer. Didn't watch as I couldn't watch them destroy that Capri.

Everytime I post something similar on their Facebork page, it gets deleted.scratchchin

Not a bad idea. Probably more brooklands about than regular E plate 2.8s.

I actually quite liked that Capri

boxedin OK, I'm not proud of myself but thought it looked alright and sounded ace. Admittedly, having to get out of the car and physically lift the headlight covers out every time you wanted to use the lights seemed a bit impractical but...

According to the "for sale" advert, 5-speed Tremec, Bilsteins, and Wilwood brakes. No mention of any additional support for the rear axle.

https://www.performanceandclassiccars.com/copy-of-...

"...the "Muscle Car". Purchased because of superb condition of its body shell which had no welds anywhere and the original spot welds on the sills and arch edges, this 1985 Mk3 was the ideal base car. Front and rear ends were remodelled in steel, large GRP wheel arch extensions added and properly tubed. The headlights reworked to accommodate a bespoke alloy grill. Internally, the engine bay and gearbox tunnel were modified to accommodate the new engine and box. Finally with all body mouldings removed and smoothed out the car was painted in gloss black.
Suspension lowered, de-cambered single leaf rear springs, Bilsteins all round, 4 pot Willwoods with 310mm discs at the front, the disc braked rear axle uprated with LSD and 2 piece H/D half shafts. Huge 8x17 front and 10x17 rear wheels by Image were added, as was a bespoke PAS.
The single piece prop shaft is fed by a new Tremec 5 speed H/D manual gearbox which is driven by a new 5.0 Ford Mustang 32v Engine producing approximately 450 BHP with its bespoke management system. Bespoke exhaust manifolds feed a side exhaust.
Finally the interior has been fully re-trimmed in black, the seats in leather."

They left out a lot.

Wouldn't that Capri need to be inspected to get a legitimate MOT? Same question for Land Rover.

Click on the photo's in that advert, no trim around the door release handle on the drivers door, and black bodge tape holding one of the metal pipes to the front of the engine! (looks like the air inlet)

I'm sure you're right. I just hate people that take credit for other peoples work. Even if said work isn't all that great. Add the constant 'unique' and 'our design' remarks and the whole thing just grates on me.
You left out 'artisan' as well! biggrin

A complete get out. They commission the programme, and thus approve of it.
