Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars (Quest)

Watching now....the BMW,why would a dealer, which is what they are,pay £1200 for an exhaust off BMW when they can get a stainless system made for £500 ?
I'm sure there's a company making petrol tanks too less than BMW are changing.
As for TRXs, they're the 1st things any normal owner takes off !

What got my goat last night was Drew's ignorance of foreign names.
When he was banging on about Astons he said Zagato but pronounced it Zagotter or similar.
Zagato is not a difficult name to remember or say properly ,for a supposed massive petrolhead.
And then later on he added an extra R to Bavaria ,so it came out as BARvaria......idiot !
Lastly ,what's with the cheapo dealer pricing......19,995 ,just say 20,000.
Not even Mike Brewer bothers with the used car dealer 5 pounds off a thousand garbage.

The MG, they spent a fortune on it and still the bonnet didn't fit.
They could at least have filmed it from the nearside. I don't get all the "originality" stuff. Well, I do, but he's so inconsistent.
Spent a fortune on the exhaust and metric tyres (that the new owner will probably keep for shows and never actually drive on) for the BMW, but painted and trimmed the MGC in non-standard colours.

Guys it’s reality tv,it’s not real it’s not ment to be real,it would never work in real life, and again for the hard of hearing it’s not real life. The only car show that comes even close to being real at the moment is fantom works and that’s Merican, for real you need YouTube unfortuanatly.

For labour ? - The going rate surely. Parts cost what parts cost. From what I estimate in my head, from what he gives away at the end of the programme, it's about $75-100 or so an hour isn't it?. Probably quite reasonable really (given US wage costs). Problem is, restos of the standard they do take 1000's of hours. What i don't get is why some of the owners are paying $100K or more on some of the (polite mode on) less fashionable stuff he gets in. Or even, how some of them have that sort of money to splash on restoring Grannies, long lost brothers, etc old tat.
They do great work though (as does Kindig).

However, I'm not entirely convinced about Fantomworks either.......
Drew Pritchard's Classic car nonsense is currently TV's Funniest programme .
I fall off the sofa laughing every time Drew opens his gob.
He goes into business with a knowledgeable partner with 20 years experience of classic cars and then over rides nearly all the advice given to him.
Drew's biggest mantra is -KEEP IT ORIGINAL.
So lets take an attractive white VW fastback and cut the bumper in half and do a body off respray in puke green and put red wall tyres on it.
“As I said, I do like to keep em original''.
Let's take a white MGC and give it a body off respray in Aston Martin Chilton Green.
The paint should have a weird satin finish which makes it look dark grey. Then we can re leather all the interior.
As I always say “ I like to keep em original . By that I mean I know the original owner really would have wanted an Aston Martin but had to settle for an MGC. Look at it, it's a little Aston Martin “.
Of course it does Drew, so why not price it as a nice original Aston DB7 at £29,995 ? -----
Drew's Quote of the series so far.
Scrutinizing a parked Ferrari Testarossa our esteemed classic car 'expert' Drew states
" I don't get the Ferrari thing. For me it's like a 14 year old girls cheap hairdryer. I've never owned an Italian car that worked. “
Half an hour later Drew buys a Lancia Delta Integrale --------
Working back from apparent profit's it seems he has a very reasonable painter that only charges £ 3- 4000 for a change of colour body off respray.
Well done Drew. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/6.gif
It's only entertainment .

I've only just seen this recent episode, and you've all commented on the bits I noticed. I'm guessing that MGC was still white on the inner wings and under the rear carpets, just like the BMW was also not repainted in those areas. I was about to comment on the TRX tyres not being much dearer than Longstone charge for a 185/70x13 for my car as they were £320 each last time I looked, but it looks like they've had a price drop, which is good to know.
Of all the stuff from that period that looks a bit like a low-cost Aston Martin option, I'm not sure the MGC is the one I'd have picked. The Peerless GT looks more like one, as does one of the Gilbern models.
That spoiler came out well - does anyone know what was being used to fill the surface blemishes? I have an eighties spoiler from my Audi coupe to do sometime fairly soon.

Has anyone mentioned that we now know how much it costs to give Drew Pritchard the beating he deserves?
Well, we do:

So, if you've got £1440 to spare, and you'd like to spend it well, you know what to do.
We were joking yesterday that Drew could probably make more money offering himself out for a kicking than bothering with all the car stuff.
You'll have to visit him at home though, as the gobby little twerp has been banned from all his local pubs:
