BMW was an interesting colour to start with, so it seems a shame to paint it black. Agree that the pinstriping was a waste of time, I'm sure they could have found a better project to showcase those skills (something American perhaps).
If you want pukka hand painted coachlines (not pinstriping) you'd find an ex-Rolls painter.....

If you want proper pinstriping (for a hot rod or US kustom etc) you'd go to a proper pinstriper wink

Bit late to the party here but , I have been catching up on some of the cars done . I find the arrogance of Drew sometimes very annoying , only he knows best ,the opinion of others is ignored .
Sometimes he gets it right , the Fiat 130 coupe was beautiful , Ford Fiesta Sport ( How much !!)
But 2 or 3 come to mind so far
Morris Minor woody , Ok until wickerwork finish applied yuk
MGDT beautiful as purchased , then ruined by the ally dash , black wings ,black wheels .
Just re watching TR4 , again gorgeous and original as bought , needing only a new hood and new springs and shocks , then ruined with faux air vents , steel wheels ( ditching wire wheels ) .
It seems each episode there is one car ruined and a quick turn round which is done well .
Remember all above IMOHO

The ones he did get right was that white Lancia Beta Monte Carlo, with putting the correct nose back on, with original wheels, and getting that mad red/white check material remade to retrim the interior, and stopping Cowland wanting to put a ghastly 037 body kit on it....
And the early Jag XJ-S which was de-Barried and returned to stock again against Cowland's desire to keep it in body kit Barry-boy spec.

They are the only two cars I can think of that Pratchard got right.

Indeed. Although, as discussed, the option of doing nothing isn't there because it is a TV show after all, so 'unmodifying' is probably as good as we are going to get, other than off-the-shelf upgrades like the Alfaholics car in the recent episode.

I prefered the new wheels on the TR4, but accept I am probably in the minority, especially for the type of buyer of that style of car.

I would’ve bought it. It just looked right to me and to actually admitting he got something right imgo goes against the grain

Disappointed that Drew had never heard of the Honda CRX, and was even more disappointed in his attitude when he saw it. The CRX was a perfectly proportioned little pocket rocket and the quality of parts and build was superior to any other hot hatch out there. I had three of them.
He soon changed his tune when he drove it and when it made him £2k-£3k in profit. Tosser.

Don't remember the CRX one, which series was that?

I'd also like to see that one. CRX (both types) is one of the best looking cars ever.

I saw the 944 repeated on Quest the other morning. There's a collated together clip concentrating on it on youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDMmkqTMBuE

They said at the end that they'd list it for £11,995 afterwards and DP reckoned it was 'cheap.' Really. Well it's in the CCA auction next month with only 1 mile more on it (you get a shot of the odometer in the video) with a guide price of £8k - £12k:

https://www.classiccarauctions.co.uk/events/2022-a...

Looks like it never sold. Like the Saab 96 also in the auction, possibly also they never achieved the prices they wanted for the way overpriced green LHD Range Rover, the Mini pick-up etc.....

Some massaging of the resto figures on that I think, £1800 all in seems unlikely.

I would have thought the cost of the refurb and a new set tyres on the £1200 Fuchs would bring just them close to £1800 alone?

I am beginning to think both programs DP is involved with are a touch of the Emporia’s new clothes , are his classic cars worth top dollar or is it the DP provenance , the same goes for some of the salvage he give a bit of spit and polish to , then puts unbelievable mark ups on , I am not knocking him for making a crust out of tat , but the fools taken in by his name and celebrity .

His antiques/salvage business is definitely a case of Emperor's new clothes with insane mark ups on most of the tat he flogs to gullible idiots, he genuinely is a real life version of the Harry Enfield 'I saw you coming' sketches.

I don't think the car mark ups are anywhere near as outrageous, just a bit toppy.

He has mentioned on Salvage Hunters that he buys a lot of smaller pieces for day trippers. I guess they go home with a bit of overpriced tat bought from a celeb to show their friends.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?

What is rubbish to one person is lovely to another, however some of the stuff he buys does seem way overpriced, sometimes I wonder how he makes a profit on some items, running cost of van, diesel, accommodation and food for the two of them.

The fact that some of the cars did not sell says it all, way overpriced and potential buyers were put off.

I wish he would stick to antiques, he does seem knowledgeable, but leave the cars to someone who knows what they are doing. Too many cars are to suit his personal taste instead of giving potential buyers what they want. Black car no thanks, taxi, difficult to keep clean etc

In a minority, but I have enjoyed every episode, do the find either presenter particularly irritating and have liked almost every car they have done, including what many have said were daft modifications.
