It was a lovely look van but for all the talk of keeping it original they then went and painted the dash red.

Yes, I noticed that too, and thought, I'm sure that should have been a black dash?

I think Droopy missed adding the black Post Office stencil logo on the wicker basket as well......?
That's three of us now on the dash and not so sure the basket was identical either irrespective of the markings.

Hadn't realised they'd fitted a headlining, maybe they did just keep the poor craftmanship of the past?

Finished article did look nice though.

This one looks good with the ‘PO’ stamp on the door.
The basket was a nice touch, but I thought that DP could have sourced a few Royal Mail sacks, or had them made.
At least the new owner can advertise his business, without ruining the van.

Just watched an old episode with the 323i Barn find.
It reconstructed a 70’s group test for practical classics magazine.
I reckon that could make a good series on its own... cars & their rivals all back in a showdown again.
More bucks for your pound. bounce

That was the van in the programme (I assume you knew that).

Interesting that shows a black dash, makes you wonder why they painted it body colour.

DP: “ I know everything about Morris Minors”...
“How much”...
Note how far away they stood when haggling with Giant Haystacks love child.

Seriously though., one of the best that they have done... I even think that all the others were envious.
Reminded me of that fully kitted out GPO van on Bangers & Cash.

Just a few weeks ago, I watched an old episode of Salvage Hunters and Drew and Tee bought a 1966 Morris Minor convertible (it may have bern a converted saloon) for £500.00. It was virtually falling apart. He sold it for less with the comment "I don't know why I buy cars because I know little about them and lose money on every car" and here he is knowing EVERYTHING about Mortis Minors!
This van was sold recently Cult Cars, (I was told) for £17,995.

If they sell for £27,000 perfect as Paul said, go towards that figure. Asking £19,995 seemed a strange thing to do.

It was quite cool, but not much shown of the repairs (is there ever? but it seemed a lot was missed off on this one, then it was mint)

The Post Office van episode was interesting for the mistakes they made.
The Post office was referred to a couple of times as GPO , GPO vans were always green , and after the split Post Office vans became red .
I noticed the van was able to move along at a good pace , this was never the case , a restricting plate was fitted between the carb and manifold , restricting the max speed to 30 perhaps 40 mph if you were lucky .
I was a PO engineer a few years ( well a lot of years ) ago and strangely the restrictor plate on my van morphed to the correct size for an “A” series engine , hummm.

I thought it was 18995 he asked for?

Just seen on Twitter that they’ve just finished filming the latest series and it will be the last.

Shame, despite a rocky start I’ve come to really enjoy this show.

Good, cannot stand DP. Maybe they will commission a decent car programme in its place

What is your pitch for a commercially successful car programme?

Last series was excellent, with one car per show and focusing on the craftspeople

Agreed. Definately into its stride now. Shame it's coming to an end. DP is definitely a marmite character, but he is very interesting.
