Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars (Quest)
Discussion
I found that quite an interesting episode. Not a car I would choose but I liked the colour they finished it in and also I didn't like the initial low slung suspension so raising it was a sensible optiion. I agree about the wood turning as well. The knobs and buttons looked very good. I am pretty sure that the VW guy Lee(?) was also involved with Car SOS when they had some sort of small beetle they were doing up for someone.

Yes he was, he restored the VW Wizard for themSkyedriver said:
That Thing, Trekker.
Have to agree with 'drew in that the "stance" is stupid as are the wheels but the rest, colour suits the car so I disagree with him and after that it's an ugly pig of a thing that makes the 2CV and a Series 1 Landy look sleek and stylish.
And the pair of them arguing is driving me mad.
Edit: Fekking duckboards! With all the crap falling through the gaps? What's wrong with rubber mats? And waste of money respraying green. Blue is a cal colour.
Edit2: The Beetle bloke Lee, his Trekker was the same blue....
Edit 3: Love the wood turning.
The woodturning was very neat, but makes a mockery of Drew's alleged quest for originality.Have to agree with 'drew in that the "stance" is stupid as are the wheels but the rest, colour suits the car so I disagree with him and after that it's an ugly pig of a thing that makes the 2CV and a Series 1 Landy look sleek and stylish.

I always thought duck boards were more of a boat thing.
The wooden duckboards was a nod to the WW2 era Kubelwagen's which The Thing/Trekker was modern incarnation of as the WW2 Kubi's had similar timber duckboards on the floors.....as seen herewpa1975 said:

When family moved to Cheam in 1970 ,elderly bloke over the road had one of these , don't know which series , drove it occasionally and sold it for a sensible car in about 1983 ,bought an Alfa Romeo Arna ...ugh !
The price of the carpet and the bodywork dent genius sounded too cheap.
Nothing wrong with brown ,it was from the 1970s when colours were way more interesting than the 50 shades of grey we now have .
Last in series ,last one ever ?
We may have all criticised this due to Drew's presence but I will miss it .

The Fulvia S3 did look nice when finished, and with some of Drew's much loved "patina" remaining....
70's brown never looked so cool
Didn't see whether they changed the wrong distributor, washer bottle back to the standard bag, and was it a non standard fuel filter of some type that also needed changing? Also replacing battery for a "period style" one?
I think the concourse judges might have noticed these wrongs...., but it looks like they thought the green carpets were the originals though..

I think it's a shame that that was the last ever episode. Despite Drew being annoying a lot of the time, it was a good show!
Agreed. Been catching up with the earlier series this week that I missed first time round and there have been some really good episodes with some pretty decent cars like the 635 and XJS which both looked excellent. Looking forward to the Volvo Amazon episode on Wednesday.

I see Drew has sold his shop in Conwy.
Paid £400,000 for it,sold it for £1.2 million !
He's done really well there given this is the most expensive property in Conwy on Rightmove at the moment https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/131201267#/...Paid £400,000 for it,sold it for £1.2 million !
I can't see how anyone expects a decent ROI on a failed £1.2 million antique shop which benefited from TV coverage.
