A House Through Time BBC2
Discussion
Documentary series tracing the history of a Georgian town house (well, 1840, so early Victorian, but it looks Georgian) in Liverpool through the families who lived there.

I've found it fascinating.
I suppose it helps that it was a rather posh house when it was built, so the occupants left footprints in the form of businesses and wills and news items, but I wonder how they found a house that was occupied by so many interesting characters. It must have required a lot of research.

I was wondering if i was going to be the only one watching this. Fortunately I'm not!
I found it fascinating. It's also amazing how they can trace all these people from years back, including one previous owner who went to America during the civil war. They followed his exploits over there.
Personally, I think the presenter (who also wrote it) will be doing other things for the BBC.
He has an excellent way of explaining the history of this house.
10/10 from me.

A thoroughly fascinating series, well presented. I hope there's more to come on other houses.
In one episode I spotted the words 'Womens Penitentiary' on a map of Faulkner Street though I don't think it has been mentioned as a 'neighbour'. If you're interested, it's mentioned here:

I wondered how many houses they had to research to find enough material to make a telly programme out of.
Oh, and is it a coincidence that the house itself is for sale?
I love the series so far. Like you I wondered that. It must be a house in a million, or at least a house in a thousand.Oh, and is it a coincidence that the house itself is for sale?
I've just watched the final episode which took things through the 80s and 90s with the personal story of the tapas bar owner, and then brought things up to date. The whole series really was one of the most extraordinary things I've ever seen on TV. The woman that owns the house now must be amazed by it all.
I lived nearby from birth until a few years ago. It was fascinating series with history really brought alive by the presenter and the research. Agree the presenter is good. Great combination of presenting the facts, interviewing technique and a feeling he really cared about the subject matter and people.
I've only seen 1 of the new series with Casey Webb so far but he does seem to have inherited the habit of exaggerating how far through the challenge he's got. "20 minutes gone and I'm half way through the gigantoburger!". No Adam/Casey - you've tried to eat about a third so far and half of that has fallen back into a pile of bits on the plate.

To be fair 575-600k seems to be the going rate for properties like this in the area.prand said:
