A House Through Time BBC2

I wondered how many houses they had to research to find enough material to make a telly programme out of.
Oh, and is it a coincidence that the house itself is for sale?
Yeah I thought that, the must be some houses where there are almost no footprints, and or owned by the same people for decades at a time. Oh, and is it a coincidence that the house itself is for sale?
I expect being for sale helped. Partner is currently selling a flat on the docks in Waterloo Warehouse, and they have been approached for tv filming off the back of it being listed for sale.

I watched the first 3 episodes last night. There seems to be a continual theme that most of the former owners did not earn enough money to actually own it - and yet they still did.
Yeah I thought that, lifes not changed much then. I guess as above it helps that its changed hands a reasonable amount. We have just moved into an edwardian house and are looking to trace the history. Currently found plan from in being built in 1902, extended 1926, and split into two 1965 which is quite cool, but for-instance the previous owners did nearly 40 years. They left us the particulars for when they bought it which is cool, but also did almost nothing during their time there.Looking fwd to the new series, only TV i've watch for years but 3-4 episodes is about right for me.

Series 2 Episode 1 BBC2 21.00 Monday 8th April.
Georgian end of terrace in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Sounds good. Georgian end of terrace in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Sobering stuff, though. Two 14 year old boys were deported to Australia for pinching a couple of brollies from the house.

Top tip to our chum - don't watch Sophie's Choice ..
If that's aimed at me, I don't get it. I've seen Sophie's Choice, and I don't see the relevance.dhutch said:
Umbrellas and infact the whole house aside, what happened to the rest of the terrace? Subsidence? Bomb damage?
Near the beginning of the programme, he had the original deeds, from when the tereace was built. The houses were highlighted in pink. and he said "So this shows us that he built seven houses, and ours, number 5, is here", and he pointed to the house on the corner. If you build seven houses, amd the last one is number 5, what numbers do the others have?

I remember the scene, but didnt pick up on the lovely bit of detail. One option is the houses have been re-numbered as per the last house through time. else perhaps they where numbered with room to expend. If you build seven houses, amd the last one is number 5, what numbers do the others have?
it appears now that house no 5 is the lowest house number on the street 6-8 is the new looking build (an advertising agency) 9-12 are the housed beyond that. 12 being the second to last, verified by a sale record, with the last house on the other end unclear as its identity but it looks like its front might be the other way round onto the main road.
The houses have obviously been tweeked a bit over the years, but it looks to me like they where not all built at the time time or design.
