Go to The Kinema in the Woods at Woodhall Spa if you want intermissions. You don't just get an intermission, you get an organ ascending through the stage and a glitterball kermode on intermissions

The Greasy Strangler, I've set this to record. It's on Film 4 on Saturday night. From what I've read about it (not watching any trailers) it's a very wrong comedy horror film, a bit Vic and Bob in style.
You're in for a treat. Heard about this from a mate with similar tastes and loved it.Also watched:
A Wrinkle in Time - didn't understand half of it and it's supposed to be a kids film? Kids hated it as well.
Cargo - ok zombie film 7/10
The Commuter - Liked it 7.5/10
Solo - Despite the reviews quite enjoyed it, agree with most on here, better than TLJ
Finally got around to watching Sausage Party last night. Thought it was very well done and very Seth Rogan. It could have run out of ideas quickly but stayed quite consistent introducing themes like the nature of God, nihhilism, hedonism, etc The last chapter is very disturbing and tops Team America in the "WTF am I watching?" stakes..
Obviously not one for young kids, but if you like Superbad you probably know what level it's aimed at.

Inglourious Basterds (2009)
An odd film. It didn't seem to know whether it wanted to be silly or serious, and rather fell between two stools as a result.
It was ok, but not really my cup of tea tbh.
Having said that, I'm still thinking about it, and reading reviews about it, and I think it might warrant a second viewing.

I was horrified when I heard Tarantino was going to do a WWII movie. As much as I liked some of his films, I thought it distasteful to give History the Tarantino treatment. An odd film. It didn't seem to know whether it wanted to be silly or serious, and rather fell between two stools as a result.

I think he got around it by being so ridiculously unhistorical and OTT that it was impossible to take seriously, killing Hitler taking the cake. Christoph Waltz was brilliant and I find it impossible to leave the room during the introduction, even when I'm not planning on watching the film.
I still think it was good rather than great, but it was made from some great moments.

Yes, Christoph Waltz stole the show and was utterly brilliant. I did enjoy the film, although parts did drag, but I'm still feeling my original impression of "neither fish nor fowl". As my dad would say, "it had its moments". And most of the best moments had Christoph Waltz in them.
The cinematography was great though, and I might watch it again simply for that as I think l missed some of it the first time round and some of the reviews I've read have made me want to revisit it for that.
Game Night 7/10
Thought it was very funny with some laugh out loud moments towards the end. Fun movie and the wife liked it too.
Death Wish 8/10
Really enjoyed this film. Story was good and well paced. Some of the action was a little far fetched but I enjoyed it. Wife, not so keen on this one!

Watched the latest instalment of the Insidious franchise last night: Insidious - The Last Key.
It gets a 5.7 on IMDB and, in reality, that's probably all it's worth from a cinematographic perspective. But, d'ya know what, sometimes I just want a film which I don't have to think about too hard; I want a distraction from 'real life' etc.
So if you've managed to watch the episodes to date, you'll almost certainly enjoy this one too. No Rose Byrne this time though.

Good Time
What an overrated film. Tomatoes gave it 92%, really?
Two brothers rob a bank and the trouble starts from there after. One of the brothers has special needs and is looked after by the other brother. Problems start from here.
I found the whole film a little annoying due to pointless chatter in a lot of places.
The plot was frankly stupid, it could have been a lot better.
The best part was the amusement park security guard, (Barkdab Abdi) is it just me or did he sound just like Chris Rock?
Avoid unless it's free.

Cargo - Yes, it's slow but I was engaged throughout and so was the Mrs. Very simple and I liked the fact that they didn't spoon feed you everything (or anything really). Was close to "the road" but not quite as bleak.
If you go in expecting your classic zombie film you will be disappointed. 7/10

JUst watched Odd Thomas, thought it was absolutely brilliant, makes me want to watch more, but sadly that can't happen as it was a bomb and the lead, the perfectly cast Anton Yelchin died some time ago.
It reminded me of the Frighteners, a film which I think is ace, even though it has a style change halfway through and I prefer the first half. Odd Thomas isn't perfect and it has some sharp edits which remind me of a tv movie, but I just love the story of a bloke who sees dead people and does something about it. Certainly stackd with clues like a great detective story to allow one to figure stuff out.

Galaxy Quest, which I haven't seen since my Mum rented it for us on VHS when it first came out and am happy to say that it holds up really well. The casting is especially good, with no one doing world-weary cynicism like the late great Alan Rickman
Baby Driver, about a young getaway driver who needs to constantly listen to music whilst he works. Really enjoyed this one as well, the fact that almost every scene is in rhythm with the soundtrack means there's never a dull moment
