Completely agree. Because of his star turn as Col. Hans Landa, I was excited when I saw him cast in Spectre. But what a let down. Poor guy had nothing to work with.

He was incredible in Django too, stole the show.

Inglourious Basterds is brilliant from start to finish! Apart frpm Hans Landa, the scene where Brad Pitt is interrogating the German soldier and the Bear Jew comes out of the shadows with his baseball bat, I love it!

I watched The Shape of Water at the weekend, don't really get the hype, it was watchable though, a few plot holes, but it isn't that kind of film where you analyse every last detail.

7/10

Death Wish 8/10

Really enjoyed this film. Story was good and well paced. Some of the action was a little far fetched but I enjoyed it. Wife, not so keen on this one!
Sassume you mean the new one?

Actually not bad and better than the Winner films.

I know a lot of the critics/press had a kneejerk anti reaction to it but its hardly an advert for vigilantism or guns.

A few from me of late:

Brawl in cell block 99
Short, sharp, brutal but freshing. Very, very violent. Vince Vaughn is a very watchable lead and this is not what you've seen of him in the past. 7/11

The Pirates of Somalia
More watchable than I was expect, you'll know the lead from his whizzing around the room antics in the recent x-men but he's good to see on screen - ultimately an affectionate story a rookie journalist, people and life in Somalia rather than another Captain Philips (though related) 7.5/12

Mother
Self-indulgent tosh. I went and read what all the implications were supposed to mean, but it's hard work to get to the end and not an enjoyable watch. Might carry more weight in the US market (as opposed to my household). Aronofsky is something of a confused athiest seemingly still angry at god and the human race. Despite the capable cast, avoid. 3/14

Funnily enough, that bit really irritated me because it went on far too long. I was genuinely expecting Brad Pitt's character to say "can we get on with it?". I certainly was.

At long last, Deadpool

Came away with a smile.

Not worth rating as any sort of serious film, just enjoyable smile

American History X.

Haven't watched this for years so luckily nothing was spoilt. Fantastic film. 10/10 for me.

Downsizing

the trailer makes it look interesting,,, it isn't. it is like 2 films stitched together with a blatant yellow
face act added for good measure.

utterbile 2/10
Just watched, thought it was interesting, really like the concept and the first half. As others have said very preachy second half but kept me watching.

1/10 and the one is for the Uma Thurman nipple (singular)
I think you've been incredibly generous with that score, I don't think I've seen a worse film in tge past few years, and I've seen some stinkers (special mention goes to Madea's Family Reunion, wtf is that all about!)

Yep. The new one. I don’t tend to read movie reviews and just watch based on who’s directing it or trailer.

Galaxy Quest, which I haven't seen since my Mum rented it for us on VHS when it first came out and am happy to say that it holds up really well. The casting is especially good, with no one doing world-weary cynicism like the late great Alan Rickman

Baby Driver, about a young getaway driver who needs to constantly listen to music whilst he works. Really enjoyed this one as well, the fact that almost every scene is in rhythm with the soundtrack means there's never a dull moment
Galaxy quest was on sky the other day id forgotten how much i liked it.

Finally got around to watching Get Out last night.

Whilst I'm no fan of the horror genre, I do enjoy a good creepy thriller. This film has some great reviews and I was hoping for Straw Dogs or Whicker Man. It fell way short. I didn't find it anywhere near as clever or engaging as I had expected.

It's watchable but only gets a 6 from me.

I switched this off after less than 5 minutes. It was very clear from the start it was not going to be very good!

I wouldn't score it that high. call me cynical but as soon as he picked up that gun, I said "He'll undoubtedly be a marksman within 7 days" and so it was with gun-wielding baddies somehow missing every shot. The final scene was also laughable but hey, it's Bruce Willis. On that point, it was much better then I expected after the last naked skateboarding cr*p he starred in.

Deadpool 2, it was ok. Lots of funny stuff, probably needs a second viewing to catch them all, a lot of mumbly garbling going on. Pretty forgettable story. I think Kermode was right with his appraisal
