Galaxy Quest, which I haven't seen since my Mum rented it for us on VHS when it first came out and am happy to say that it holds up really well. The casting is especially good, with no one doing world-weary cynicism like the late great Alan Rickman
I'd never seen this before and watched it after seeing the above.

It was obvious but quite funny, I enjoyed it and Rickman really could roll his eyes for England...

Just watched "Game Night"

Pretty predictable, stupid in parts (arm wound) and overall, fairly dull. It's a no from me.
Lovely Corvette C3 though.

4/10

Watched Iron-Man 2 this week, forgot how good it was. Had this vague idea it wasn't, maybe thanks to the web, but it was solid and built on the first one, plus we see more COulson, get introduced to Black Widow, learn more about Fury and SHIELD, have a greatbaddie in Stammer and get to see the birth of crappironman War Machine.
Stark is just so watchable

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It was ok, but there were some real WTF moments (even allowing for the film's own logic). Not dreadful though... Score? Genetic sequence still not fully decoded

Just in from Fallen Kingdom. I think reviews will be very mixed, and families going in for a sequel to Jurassic World with young kids etc are in for something very, very different. I loved it, but I was always in the bag for this as the JP series is what I've grown up with.

I always wondered what a Jurassic Park horror film would look like and I think the last hour of the movie pretty much goes there.

Good or bad it's a pretty ballsy move from Universal. They could easily have played it safe given JW made a staggering amount of money, but they've gone pretty dark with this. Can't wait for the sequel!

mother! (Sky Cinema)

I was spellbound by this. Couldn't take my eyes off it. It starts slowly and gradually ups the tension up and up until the completely bonkers finale. And then you realise what it was all about. Maybe.

I can understand why some may dislike it, but I was shocked, delighted, and surprised.

The Conjuring

Can't walk up the stairs at night now without looking over my shoulder. Really good horror though it does inspire a lot from The Exorcist. But smart direction means it avoids all the obvious genre tropes.

The song at the end said “I don’t understand”. Damn right!

The Book Thief

A proper, proper film. Absolutely fantastic. A quality, engaging piece of cinema.

If you haven’t seen it, treat yourself.

Seen a few over the last couple of weeks.

Three Billboards.... - I thought this was a great film as well! 9/10
The Commuter - Liam Neeson doing what he does - not bad way to spend a couple of hours 7/10
Killing Gunther - 2 funny bits and both are in the trailer I think. 2/10

Random one next. (Documentary)

Solo (covers kayaker Andrew McAuleys Aus -NZ solo attempt) - worth watching - dont read the blurb first - massively emotional roller coaster!

Dear Dictator
A Michael Caine film about a deposed dictator with a London accent who hides in the garage of a girl who has been writing to him. Generally the usual American guff about realising your potential, spoilt by the mother being unacceptably hot yet unable to find a boyfriend. 5/10

Dog Show mockumentary
Sorry I can't remember the name, it's the usual formulaic The Office style format about the absurd owners who show dogs. Few laughs but this format has been done to death 5/10

I almost gave up on it part way through, kept watching because of the great cast. Should have quit and done something else with that hour.

Not a clue what happened or why it happened or who happened. Utter dross.

0.3/10 just for the flash of breast.

Persuaded to watch Coco by my daughter. I checked the reviews and they looked good so I thought what the hell.

Truly, what an awful film.

Weak storyline, far too much dialogue squeezed in and nothing to keep your interest while it chugged on.

I’m not sure if this is aimed at children or adults. Whatever, it was a true stinker.

On the other hand, my daughter liked it.

It's an allegory.

Jennifer Lawrence is Mother Earth and Javier Bardem is God. Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer are Adam and Eve and their sons are Cane and Abel. Gradually they invade the mother's home and turn it into Hell, and God encourages them, because they worship Him. Or something...

Brawl in Cell Block 99 - one of those films I genuinely don't know if I liked or not. Vince Vaughn was really good, especially when he's going so much against type, it's shot in a very purposeful and methodical way, and utterly brutal at times, but did I enjoy it? Really not sure.

Yep, I read that. Still had no idea. It does have boobs though and Michelle Pfieffer in her best pants, do not a total loss! biggrin
