Went to see Incredibles 2 last night, it was quite enjoyable with some genuinely funny parts. If a little predictable.

My son got a little bored in the middle, it seemed to go on for too long, like most films these days.

Interesting learned a few things their like I never knew that was Enio score I thought it was just Carpenter. Good year for movies never knew it bombed. That’s a travesty.
They are right about prequels

But they are wrong about the ending mcreedy is a thing and he infects child’s with the J &B bottle with cells from his mouth that’s why he smiles when child’s drinks it.
Not sure on that. I thought they didn’t know they were infected until they started to turn so unless McCreedy was about to split in half with tentacles slashing about all over the place he wouldn’t have known he was infected.

I thought the eye light was genius.
JC wanted the ending ambiguous though, I don't like the idea of Mac being it, or Niles, I hope they both die...in the nicest possible way.

Was really surprised that it was a critical flop, most critics are aholes though incapable of creativity themselves

outpost 31 has a pretty cool scenario for the proposed follow-up film

This is worth a read if you can find a copy:

Dark Horse did some great 'follow on' graphic novels for Aliens & Predator - so much better than the ones Hollywood gave us.

My understanding is that these pre-date the films and, indeed, inspired them rather than the other way round.

The Predator follow on comic had some scenes in it that the 2nd Predator film used, not sure any of the Alien stuff ever made it into the films. AvP originated as a graphic novel, then a game then a film smile

I watched Happy Death Day on Sky last night.

It was watchable, just about. Sort of a teen horror spin on Groundhog Day, which isn't really my genre to begin with. I don't think it was supposed to be a comedy but, some of the supposedly scary bits were just comically bad.

Don't go out of your way to watch it, make sure you've got an iphone or similar to distract you and you'll probably make it through to the end.

5/10 and I'm probably being generous with that score.

The Predator's trophy room in Predator 2

I'm not sure whether any Alien Predator crossover stuff happened in graphic novels before Predator 2.

Wałęsa: Man of Hope, absolutely stunning acting, Agnieska Grochowska, as Danuta Wałęsa and Robert Więckiewicz as Lech Wałęsa acted out of their skins.

So did I, and have exactly the same feelings about it. I'm just happy it was as good as the original, and it looked beautiful despite the 3D glasses (thought I had booked a 2D screening...).

LOoks ace.
I did have some predator/terminator/alien crossovers back in the day. I know I still have predator/batman. Not sure what else I still have.

There was a very good Terminator / Robocop crossover that I read once. I don't remember a huge amount about it, but Murphy essentially becomes a virus in Skynet trying to shut it down and save humanity.

Unsane

Unsettling. Watching someone having everything they find safe stripped away from them. Isolation. Having their fate masterminded beyond their control.

Pretty good film. 8/10.

Wind River

Another excellent film from Tyler Sheridan (writer of Sicario & Hell or Highwater). A gripping story with great acting, action and scenery. If you liked his other films you should enjoy this one.

8/10

Currently watching An Officer and a Gentleman on Paramount and reminded of the outstanding performance of Louis Gossett Jr as Sgt Foley.

Just watched Sully on Sky whilst enjoying a Chablis. Quite enjoyed it really. Not an Earth shattering film but it's not the first Clint Eastwood film I've watched and though yeah I liked that. I've also belatedly realised that he makes films for men, and men who aren't quite in the first flush of youth. Tom Hanks barely moved his tache at all and it's a nice tache.

I came away railing against beaurocracy yet again but a quick Google revealed Eastwood had made the baddie(s) up to suit the story. Not the first director to do that so hey ho.

And for every Sully out there how many pillocks and jobsworths are there in charge of our safety?

haven't watched the youtube link yet (that's lunchtime sorted!) but I never believed McReady was the thing, and always thought the thing had to "absorb" its victim before it could copy them - otherwise it could just lace glasses with DNA/cells and pass a round of drinks round everyone...

Fans of "The Thing" should watch the original 1951 B&W movie if you haven't already - obviously not a gore-fest etc, but there is a scene that makes me jump every time I watch it - I always forget whats about to happen!

Solo - A Star Wars Story

Watched this with the Mrs up at VUE in Westfield London, it was a 13:30 showing so was in one of the smallest screens. It didn't detract from the experience though, as I thought the film was an enjoyable romp with some great action sequences and it filled in the gaps about how the characters met. I thought the actor that played Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) did very well conveying the charisma that Harrison Ford brought the character in the later (earlier) films.
