Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, bloody brilliant. Don't think anything has been made like them since. Don't think hollywood would be so interesting these days.
telly is making a dark crystal series though

Ghost Stories , t'was very good indeed .
Watched this in the cinema many months ago now and still think about it often. Alex Lawther, yet again, is utterly brilliant in the crazy middle story.

A rare movie that I'll buy once it's out as I can see me enjoying it multiple times.
Genuinely scary?

Dragged to Mamma Mia, here we go again yesterday evening.

I could sum this up in just two words, "don't go ".

I was dragged to the first one and enjoyed it up to a point. I would probably give it 6.5/10.

The original had a better storyline and probably better acting especially from Meryl Streep.

The new film is very much a been there seen it and done it but not done as well. It must be bad if my wife suggested leaving after 10 minutes! I persuaded her to stick it out as it couldn't be that bad. It actually did improve in the second half but it is a film that I would definitely recommend missing!

2.5 Chiquititas/ 10 Supertroopers

No (and I scare pretty easy), more like a good ghost train in an old theme park (that punches you in the gut at the end). It's great fun, particularly the middle of the 3 stories.

Mrs Surveyor and I went on Wednesday, I actually enjoyed it, it is what it is and it's loads of fun.

The good lady and I went to see Incredibles 2 last night. It's a visually stunning film with fantastic attention to detail - it really impresses. Baby Jack-Jack stole the show for me - the Raccoon scene is hilarious biggrin Better than the original? Nope, but still an enjoyable film. 14 years since the original - where did that time go?!

The short 'Bao' beforehand is pretty sweet, too.

The Bourne Legacy (2012)

I am a huge fan of the Matt Damon Bourne films so, didn't have particularly high hopes for this one. I didn't watch it when it was released as I thought they were just cashing in on the franchise with some lacklustre effort to link the two together.

Admittedly, the plot connections are pretty weak but, they work well enough and the film itself was a surprisingly good action thriller - recommended. 7/10

MI: Fallout

another fun ride in the franchise nothing really new (TC does his funny run, rides his motorbike) to be honest but some of the stunts are quite impressive, there is some humour and decent action. Unbelievability factor is high but overall enjoyable.

Score: !/3 of the world's population won't like it wink

Den of Thieves.

Effectively a re-make of Heat, with a very similar story arc but less likeable characters. Action scenes quite well done, although there are the usual stereotypes (clueless police negotiators, corrupt cop with marriage issues, etc.).

Good way of passing two hours if you like a heist movie. 7/10 if you are a fan of the genre, 5/10 if you're not.

Tomb Raider (2018)

I am not even close to being a fan of Angelina Jolie but her two films were vastly better than this rubbish.
The lead actress has zero personality so,halfway through, you don't really care what the hell happens to her. The storyline is weak and it was just so damned uninteresting...I'm trying to recall how it ended, even now, 22 hours later.

2/10

I thought it was rather weak myself.

It's ironic that Jeremy Renner has come closer to killing off Jason Bourne than any of the antagonists have. smile

Ironically that probably why she was perfect to play Ava in Ex Machina.

I really like the Angelina Jolie films, the first more so. They were fun films and not to be taken too seriously and they were great at that.

I agree - Angelina Jolie absolutely nailed the character of Lara Croft. I still have a soft spot for the first film, although less so for the second.

Unless you’re not a fan of the first one, because it would be just slightly surreal.

The Game
Despite the, frankly, unbelievable plot we found this film totally engrossing. Michael Douglas is at his best and has the majority of screen time in this pacey and sometimes violent adventure with its strange and seemingly unending twists and turns. Is it a dream? Is anyone what they seem to be or are they in on the conspiracy? Best thing we've watched in a while.
