A Mountain Between Us- watched 45 minutes and really started to wish they both would fall off a cliff and that would be the end of it. Not a Winslet fan and not sure about Elba. Again, switched it off and found something else to do.

Score for both 1/10
I’m an Idris fan, but that movie was very “colour by numbers” Hollywood. You didn’t miss much

Baywatch - they tried to be ironic and take the piss out of itself - but its still infantile and utter cack 1/10

The 15:17 to Paris - Clint Eastwood new one, a true story of 3 Americans thwarting a terrorist attack on a train, an experiment that goes wrong the acting is dire but at the end its revealed its the characters playing themselves, very slow and uninteresting documentary of 3 peoples lives leading to 10 very well shot action scene minutes at end, admirable but doesn't work 3/10

ARQ.

Theoretically, an acceptable premise for a film, but relentless in its pursuit of going no-where.

3/10.

isn't one of the French lawyers furious about it?

I read about the incident in the papers after it had happened and found it bizarre - subsequently - to hear that anyone felt they could make a watchable film about a spontaneous set of events which probably passed in around 3 minutes.

Just another film about 'Americans saving the world', I guess.

Anyone who enjoyed Phantom Thread/PTA I would recommend listening to Adam Buxton's recent podcast with him; very chilled and open discussion about things away from his work, which is a refreshing change. Also Adam's impression of Daniel Day Lewis hehe

Watched Mindhorn on Amazon yesterday; loved it just as much as I did at the cinema - some many great one-liners and quips.

The Game.

1997 Michael Douglas film.

Interesting premise, thoroughly enjoyed it but like most of the films that are getting on a bit, they look a little dated. Don't let that distract you though, it is an entertaining film.
Lots of twists and turns, some obvious, some not so!

7/10

The Cloverfield Paradox on Netflix. Urgh, a cheaply produced movie and so much is lifted from other great films we turned it off half way through.

Agreed about Cloverfield Paradox, haven't seen the other one.

Blade Runner 2049

One of the best films I've seen in a while, and one of the best sequels I've ever seen... it just 'feels' like the original, despite coming 30 years later. Interesting story, well paced, well acted, stunning visuals. Fabulous.

If you enjoyed the film, then you may also enjoy the PH thread on it at https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I'm going to watch it tonight. Wiki reckons it had a budget of $40M!

Given the last straight to Netflix release that I can remember was The Circle, my expectations are low.

Baywatch.
Brilliant fun, totally childish humour which is exactly what I want sometimes!

I'd probably give it more of a 9/10, it's really nicely put together and a good strong plot.

One of my all time faves - a really interesting story told well.

Watched two slightly quirky films this weekend.

The Cobbler: Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman, Steve Buscemi. Quite an amusing little tale, AS is a cobbler with a historic stitching machine, when he uses that machine to repair shoes and tries them on, he turns into the shoe owner. Sounds weird, is weird, quite funny, struggles slightly to close off, slightly predictable outcome.

Stranger than Fiction: Emma Thompson, Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal. Boring accountant hears voices in his head which turn out to be a writer writing a book, and he lives out what she's writing. Sounds a bit odd but works quite well.

Neither film has any particular gravitas but for a couple of hours in front of the telly with the missus, more than acceptable.

Great movie badly let down by a ridiculously implausible ending that just required too big a suspension of disbelief. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disgusted with a movie ending.
