A Ghost Story (2017) - Netflix
Casey Affleck dies in a car crash and comes back as a ghost, literally in a white sheet, to observe his wife's grief (Rooney Mara).
Slow, dull, boring, pretentious, arty-farty claptrap. I quite liked it.
7/10
Yeah that's about right Casey Affleck dies in a car crash and comes back as a ghost, literally in a white sheet, to observe his wife's grief (Rooney Mara).

I watched this on a long flight recently. I wasn't sure if I was enjoying it and there are some bits that nearly made me drop it, but I stuck with it.
The funny thing is, I felt compelled to watch it again a couple of weeks later and it's more interesting when you know what's what.

Ha! I still remember seeing it the first time with no prior knowledge of any plot or seeing any trailer. Still remember the 'what the actual fk is going on here' moment.
Good film though.
Watched that with Mrs phazed the other night, well up to a point.Good film though.
When it got to the WTF moment in the titty bar my wife announced that she wasn’t going to watch any more of this claptrap. I must admit, I wish it had carried on in the vein that it started.
I may watch the end this evening depending on the wine intake , you know it lowers your expectations!
Been catching up with my Marvel so I watched Thor:Ragnarok.
Good fun action movie, nice interactions and nice to have one not set on earth for a change. Sir Tony phoned it in for his few scenes but I liked the rest of them including a typically bonkers performance from Jeff Goldblum. Cate Blanchett personified the Crazy/hot matrix. And the Thor/Hulk interactions were fun.
8.5 Viking Gods out of 10
The Dark Tower - Not Marvel I know and I'm sure I read some of the books years back.
It was ok. Snappy at 90 minutes, everyone did what they were supposed to and some decidedly non-hollywood deaths lifted it slightly but it felt more like a TV movie/pilot episode for the further adventures of Gunslinger and boy rather than a big budget hollywood movie. 6.5/10.

s'funny, I felt the two bits with Hopkins were the only ones that had any weight.8.5 Viking Gods out of 10
Couple "oldies" today with the family.
Avengers assemble - probably still in the top 5 comic book films. Felt a bit dated believe it or not, probably because it was mainly based on earth and cap was so fresh faced and naïve.
Goonies - now this did feel dated, still a great film though. When I was young I thought it was quite scary in parts, as did my wife. Our son found this fact hilarious.
Solid 8/10 for both.

Just watched Train to Busan, the Korean zombie film, it's been mentioned many times already.
Brilliant film. Up there as one of my favourites just from seeing it once .
Thanks for the heads up. Just watched it and thought it was fabulous. Loved it.Brilliant film. Up there as one of my favourites just from seeing it once .
Victoria and Abdul
Nice little period piece with Judy Dench getting back into the queen vic role. Tale of her and an Indian servant. One of those based on a true story things, not sure how much is true. Some of it felt quite unlikely. I wasn’t keen but it held my attention and I enjoyed it. 6.5/10.

Equalizer 2
I promised myself an early screening and can confirm if you liked E1, then you will really rate this.
No spoilers but just a great brain out 2hrs 01mins of gratuitous violence putting the world to rights. Superb soundtrack to build the pace as you reach the climax.

Upgrade. Very good.. You knew where it was going, but well done and acted..
Welcome to the dystopian future in about 30-100 years.. 8.5/10
Yes, very good. I enjoyed that. A bit "Michael Knight" and it would have been 7.5/10 but I'm making it 8 for the '77 black Trans Am (no, not KITT) and the Cuda.Welcome to the dystopian future in about 30-100 years.. 8.5/10
Oh and my son pointed out that a lot of the cars were sort of "current" for the future.

I wonder if it talks to him when courting/dating.
