American Anumals
My complete removal from movie news/trailers etc paid off at this 'unseen' screening, I'd never heard of this film or had any idea what happened in real life (or even if it really was a documentary).
Anyhow, it's brilliant. Very funny at times with the crossover between the actors and the real life subjects. The tension really bubbles up towards the end and it got quite uncomfortable. No walkouts whatsoever, which is rare indeed at Screen Unseen.
It reminded me of Four Lions a bit with four college kids ineptly planning a crime. My complete removal from movie news/trailers etc paid off at this 'unseen' screening, I'd never heard of this film or had any idea what happened in real life (or even if it really was a documentary).

I enjoyed it but there were a couple of walkouts at our screening.
The Titan
Awful film. I paid 99p to rent this and still I feel cheated. A reasonably interesting premise about forced evolution to enable humans to live on Titan as planet earth is overpopulated and has pretty much gone to the dogs.
Terrible execution. Clearly a low budget but, whatever money they did have, I can only imagine was spent primarily on catering as it was not evident on the screen. The acting was so bad, I did wonder initially if it was intentional (it wasn't).
Unless you place no value on your leisure time, do not waste it on this tripe.

Pain and Gain. Amazing, a film that makes Mark Mark watchable! Never woulda thunk it. It's an enjoyable romp of three morons, bits are very funny, and some bits are slow.
Also, the LOng Shops on today on bbc 2
I watched this again at the weekend. Great entertainment, the rock is great & marky mark superb. Laugh out loud funny in places. I could watch it again this weekend. Also, the LOng Shops on today on bbc 2
Also watched world war z again. After being underwhelmed first time around, I was hooked this time, even though I knew what was coming. Fast paced, looks & sounds great.
Searching
Enjoyed this, well executed even if under the skin it's reasonably formulaic.
The film ties itself in knots at times trying to stick to its self-imposed 'screen only' aesthetic (and at times it only works because US TV news is so intrusive, some scenes simply wouldn't work in the UK), but the majority of it is surprisingly well done. My guess would be that the outcome is obvious to most from pretty early on, but I don't think that necessarily detracts from the journey. John Cho is superb.

I bought the DVD of Titanic today for 25p in a charity shop.
I've been playing Titanic VR recently and exploring the wreck (if you have an Oculus Rift or other PC-based VR set, I would recommend it), so the subject matter is fresh in my mind and it's been years since I have seen the film.
I'm kind of nervous about watching the film since
a) it's going to involve having to hear that bloody song again and
b) I fear the CGI is going to be hopelessly dated.

Nah, mate. It's all about Kate Winslet getting her kit off.I've been playing Titanic VR recently and exploring the wreck (if you have an Oculus Rift or other PC-based VR set, I would recommend it), so the subject matter is fresh in my mind and it's been years since I have seen the film.

Finished my Back to the Future run with Part 3. For some reason it's remembered as the weak link, which is only true insofar as the third is great whereas the first two are classics. Still enormous fun to watch with great chemistry between the cast, funny lines and a really well done train sequence. Appropriately enough, they are timeless films and perhaps the best trilogy ever.

I have this trilogy as my favorite ever along with the Star Wars 4,5,6.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
