It was super-easy; barely an inconvenience.

watched the David Brent film....bit uncomfortable at times, and no hollywood ending, but felt real. The Brent character is/was/is quite broken, but he did grow, and have a measure of self-awareness.
The bully characters in the sales office, reminds me of people out and about, and quite a lot of characters in NPE (and here too in much smaller numbers)

End of Watch
wow
amazing film, the ending really got me. And that's surprising because I hate that handheld 1stP camera bullst, but the acting in this, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, both phenomenal, as well as supporting actors, very real. ONe of the best films I've seen this year, it was on film4 and it's a fw years old
had me hooked.
Great film, that last scene combined with the music had tears rolling down my face.

It's an excellent film. Very underrated.

Got a bit dusty in my house too at the end...

Passengers

Started with promise, had a Silent Running feel to it, but the last 45-60 mins it went sadly predictably standard-Hollywood script. Pity. Jennifer Lawrence very foxy.

It you haven't watched any of the 'Pitch Meeting' series then I'd recommend them - they're very funny and surprisingly incisive.
I might now be addicted to a new youtube channel. biggrin
Yeah I watched about a dozen of those pitch videos in a row; very funny guy!

I’ve just come back from me ‘olibobs so watched a couple of films on the flights there and back again.

Life of the Party – it’s a Melissa McCarthy film so you pretty much know from the outset what you’re getting (for better or worse). That being said it’s pretty ok fare to pass the time on with some/quite a lot of dross interspersed with some genuinely laugh out moments. Score 6/10

Queen: Rock The World – not really a film rather a documentary, but very enjoyable it was too. Score: We Will Rock You/concert

Upgrade – an interesting scifi flick with some fairly decent moments. Score: Brazil/South America

The Spy Who Dumped Me – an amusing enough film, what I guess used to be called “a comedy of errors”. Bits of action, some laughs. It’s pretty inoffensive for better or worse Score: 003/007

Antman and Wasp – really enjoyed 1 and was looking forward to this one, despite some lovely set-pieces I thought that this was really quite disappointing. Score: 20’/65’

Men in Black – was on the gogglebox on a quiet night so re-watched it, and really enjoyed it again.

MiB: 3 – stumbled across this on NetFlix and thought I’d see if it would be better than I remember MiB 2 being…. And it was! Loved the whole 60’s vibe they had going on and the ending was pretty good too (in retrospect it should have been obvious). Not as good as 1, but better than 2

Yes, MiB3 is really good. We don't mention MiB2 though. smile

The Thing (1982 version)

Noticed it was on The Horror Channel the other night - remember it being a classic, and it is still a very good film. It actually finished later than I wanted, but it's also on Amazon Prime so finished it off last night.

It's aged well - obviously the effects are almost 40 years old, but still not bad at all.

I think MiB3 was the best of the trilogy.

I watched it at the cinema this year, it was sublime. Difficult to think of any film in the past 20 years that comes close to it

It is a great film. I can say that now as this year was the first time I've ever managed to get past the dog perspective camera scene laugh

Oh and another +1 for End of Watch. Never heard of it before and well worth a watch.

One of my all-time fave horror / sci-fi films. The special effects have aged very well all things considered, the fact that everything was actually built and animated rather than CGI

I agree. Really good practical effects are fairly timeless, unlike CGI which can date very badly. Also there is a real sense of "how did they DO that?" and marvelling at the ingenuity, whereas literally anything can be done with CGI these days which rather removes the sense of wonder.

Have you seen The Thing (2011)? It being the prequel to the 1982 'The Thing'. Didn't think i would like it, but was pleasantly surprised. smile

Mad Max ..Fury road

Was on TV last weekend ,weird movie !

The guy bashing away at an electric guitar on the front of a truck during the entire chase was hilarious.

A lot of the dialogue between Hardy and Theron was very muted and mumbled.

It's on again this weekend ,maybe I should watch it again.
