Three Billboards . My wife had mixed views but I thought it was superb , dark and humerous with twists . Great movie , another 8/10.

Got round to Justice League yesterday.

Absolute bks. Barely warrants a score of 1. Out of any number.

Acts of Vengence - reasonble revenge flick with Antonio Banderas (though certain threads do not seem to be followed up)
Switched it off after 15 minutes.

It probably improved as it jogged along but if a film doesn't grab me in the beginning then life's too short to suffer a second rate film.

By comparison, "Taken" hit the spot immediately and was a great yarn.

agreed! I still don't understand how DC can mess things up so badly compared to Marvel

Interesting that you should say that, because when I watched Taken I remember posting to Facebook "it's 30 mins in and nothing much has happened. When does this film get going?" and several friends reassuring me that it was a brilliant film and to stick with it.

The Mummy - 2017 (Sky Cinema)

Boring, tedious, utter pants. Second half of the film is mostly setup for the "Dark Universe" series that now probably won't happen. I read that Tom Cruise interfered a lot, and it shows. Only worth watching for Sofia Boutella, although she's in Mummy makeup for most of it.

2/10

Sofia Boutella was quite literally the only good thing about this utterly generic pile of poo. If they concentrated on her a lot more than they did on setting up a universe that is not going to happen, it may have been a fun movie. But for the most part, it was mainly tedious, and clearly aimed at non English speaking audiences, given the simple dialogue and countless re-iterating of the paper thin plot.

I was about to post exactly the same - annoying characters, terrible sequel setup ending, zero plot hanging on to a couple of big budget MI type action pieces. Both my 2 points were for the hot mummy too.

Turbo Kid - whoever recommended this, thank you! Low budget hilarity - 8/10 for entertainment.

Bridge at Remagen on now, damn this is s till so watchable.
Lots of bonus points for proper realistic effects - just find a town that looks the part (and is due to be demolished) and blow it up.

Some interesting background too like the Soviet invasion while they were filming...

I watched 3 billboards last night. It's an OK film but i don't get the hype over the film or the acting, it's nothing special. 6/10

Think that was probably me, glad you liked it, there is talk of a sequel as well biggrin

Back on topic...I watched Darkest Hour at the weekend, thought it was good but not worth all the hype it's had. 8/13

Last Flag Flying didn’t realise this was an Amazon production and was already on streaming. Bryan Cranston, Laurence Fishburne and Steve Carrell are former Marine Corps buddies who reunite to bring home Carrell’s son who was killed in action. Really enjoyed it; bit of a bittersweet film but the three leads are surperb and it’s directed by Richard Linklater, who imo is a very good storyteller.

Thor: Ragnarok

I had heard good things and read many a shining review of this film so, had high hopes going in. What I got was an okay film that was funny in places but also pretty generic and very typical of the genre. I'd give it a 7/10. I much preferred the second movie to be honest.

The Mummy

I'm going to go against the majority here and say that I didn't think it was quite as terrible as some people are suggesting. As long as you take out your brain before the movie starts, it is an enjoyable enough romp with a pretty generous helping of eye candy in the shape of Sofia Boutella cloud9 Not a masterpiece by any means but, I'd give it a fair 5.5/10
