Last Flag Flying didn’t realise this was an Amazon production and was already on streaming. Bryan Cranston, Laurence Fishburne and Steve Carrell are former Marine Corps buddies who reunite to bring home Carrell’s son who was killed in action. Really enjoyed it; bit of a bittersweet film but the three leads are surperb and it’s directed by Richard Linklater, who imo is a very good storyteller.
Wow, that sounds really good.

Watched it last night, it's a nice film, worth a watch. The last scene is a bit stupid, but the whole film wouldn't happen without it being done in that order. There was no need for it, but that's the USA audience needs being catered for. My last comment will make sense once you have seen the film.

Yea I totally agree in fairness the film made itself clear from the outset that it would have this underlying, USA-USA subtext to it, so I was okay with it..

A classic and one of Sellers’ best movies. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a must see

GameNight - Really enjoyable film, went in under protest from the missus, so much better than the trailer portrays it - Proper belly laughs in the audience. Solid 8/10 for a drama/comedy.
Black Panther - It was ok, but not great, way over hyped (and I was over-hyping it) but 7/10 is fair score imo. Worth seeing but not ground breaking (to me anyway) - people were cheering thru it and clapping at the end I do live in Chicago thou...
Three Bill Boards - I bought this at home as soon as it came out. Dark humor, and just clicked with me 9/10 so frikin funny - especially the mum hoofing the teenage girl in the sponge.

Crossfire Trail

2001 western with Tom Selleck. I enjoyed it, thought it was better than Quigley Down Under, also with Tom Selleck.

8/10

The Shape of Water. Odd, good story well told, out of the two definitely preferred billboards 7/10

Might have mentioned this before but Table 19 is worth a watch.

The Horseman - quite a disturbing Oz revenge flick. No Hollywoodised violence here, oh no! This does seem to be quite (too!) realistic and quite brutal with it. TBH I'm not sure what to make of this - it's ultra low budget but it's got charm and is disturbing

Thought it felt more like a Channel 4 Sunday night movie. Ok but no more.

For me it was as good as his previous films (Scicario and Hell or High Water); WR was one of my favourite films from last year.

It seemed all the American parts were taken by Brits ,Idris Elba in lead actor and Kelly Reilly in supporting role.
Just watched it,Elba's accent was a bit hit n mess but I thoroughly enjoyed the film

Thor: Ragnarok. Ironic that the Thor films seem to be the weakest in the Marvel Universe. I quite liked the main characters but overall the film was far too camp, far too jokey and spent far too long messing about on the dreadful Jeff Goldblum’s planet.

Amazing to think that this is the (I think) 15th film of this particular universe with at least two others around (Black Panther and Avengers: somethingtodowithwarbuticantquiterememeber). I wonder how long before they overtake James Bond as the biggest (it is, currently, isn’t it?) film franchise going.

Not very many / quite a few.

Ah, I though someone might misunderstand what I was saying smile I meant in relation to actual films: this particular Marvel franchise has, what, 17 films out now, compared to 25(?) Bond films? Marvel seem to be more prolific so I wonder when it will take over in terms of numbers rather than box office takings.

Ah well in that case you should have though (sic) more about what you were writing when you wrote it and been less ambiguous. wink
