Watched Vice, the Dick Cheney drama with Christian Bale.
Bugger me that was good. Right amount of humor and Christian Bale is firmly one of my favourite actors. Can barely recognise him in some parts.
The end quote of how much you would be willing to put up with made me think.
I didn’t like it quite as much as The Big Short, but Bale and Rockwell were amazing as usual. A solid 8/10 from me. Bugger me that was good. Right amount of humor and Christian Bale is firmly one of my favourite actors. Can barely recognise him in some parts.

Glass - mentioned to my kid I was watching this last night (on Monday) and he pointed out it was a sequel to Unbreakable (that I had not seen since he was born! and Split - never seen.
So watched them both Monday night and saw this last night - McAvoy is superb. That aside, DO NOT go and watch Glass without first seeing the others. Seen lots of stuff suggesting it stands alone - it doesn't! It would be like starting StarWars with ROTJ!

I saw Unbreakable years ago like you, still remember it pretty well though. Are you saying you need to watch Split then Glass, is that the order? So watched them both Monday night and saw this last night - McAvoy is superb. Glass
Watched Unbreakable around 12 months ago, thought it was pretty good. (7/10) Haven't seen Split. Sam Jackson was on R2 last week and said you probably need to see Unbreakable but not necessarily Split so I went and watched Glass last night.
Was a little confused about 'the light' thing but I worked it out.
First 80% of the film was brilliant I thought. Great twist at the end, McAvoy sublime. Probably was 20 minutes too long but really enjoyed it!
9/10
Only the Brave
Had no idea about the back story so got a bit of a shock at the end, good film 8/10
Last week:
A Star is Born, I can see why it's been nominated, both leading actors very good with Sam Elliott also excellent (and outside a western too!) 9/10
The Old Man and the Gun - I can't see past his hair/wig but nice to see RR back in the groove again, light entertainment and I suspect a million miles from the truth - 7.5/10

If anything, split is more important to see than Unbreakable - quite how you are supposed to follow the stuff with McAvoy otherwise is beyond me???
The "Light", the Beast, his relationship with Casey....it all needs the backstory way more than Bruce's character does. You really need Unbreakable to understand where Sam Jackson comes from, thats all.
Oh, and to see the little kid - cool they used the same actor 20 years on - gave it a nice link back to the original (obviously, Robin was too expensive!!!)

Mary Queen of Scots
Two hours of my life I'll never get back.
Filled with "modern" themes and very little attempt at any historical accuracy whatsoever. Too many bad points to mention for me but here are a few :
Why whenever Mary set foot outside "Holyrood Palace" did she find herself immediately in Glencoe or some other back of beyond highland landscape ?
Why did "Holyrood Palace" look like it was carved out of solid rock ? - laughable.
Why did Mary who spent the majority of her life in France have a hybrid Glaswegian\Belfast accent ?
1 botched beheading out of 10 cruel and unusual tortures.

Glad it wasn't just me then, i know i'm bored when other people eating loudly in the cinema gets to me, usually like Margot Robbie too but this is dire! Two hours of my life I'll never get back.

Room
Started well, teenage girl locked in a room, becomes pregnant, has child......7 years later....goes on and on....
The only interesting titbit I got from the film was the uncanny resemblance of the lead, Brie Larson to an early Susannah York!
Blimey! Toms gave it 94%! My wife enjoyed it so must be a woman type film, maybe?

Upgrade
2.99 to buy on amazon, 4.49 to rent?
Anyway, Sci-fi flick about a guy who gets into an accident, wife dies and he's paralysed from the neck down, billionaire computer guy offers him a chip that will get him back on his feet (excuse the pun) again and reluctantly goes on a bit of a reluctant rampage finding out about what happened.
Being of a certain age, most films seem to have the same script over and over, so I assumed I knew what was going to happen within 10 mins of the film starting, and just thought I'd do my best to enjoy the visuals/action. To my surprise the story and the twists at the end are one of the best parts, along with the visuals and the action! Oh, and it's quite funny too.
Best film I've watched in ages, absolutely loved it. 9.33459/10.

The scene with the rolled-up carpet is IMO a modern masterpiece.
