White boy Rick as recommended on here.

Decent if somewhat lacking in flow I felt. Great story and acting though.

The final credits were a complete eye opener as well. Can’t help but feel a bit sorry for the kid.

Upgrade

What a great film. Makes a change from so many mediocre films that have been around.

A very good storyline, well acted and a nice twist at the end.

Man gets attacked, becomes a paraplegic and is offered the chance of movement again with an advanced superchip installed. The film starts from there. Bonus addition of a couple of really nice American muscle cars.

I've just watched Mandy and I don't think I can process the last two hours. I've watched A LOT of films this year but it's safe to say I won't forget this one. A shame it never got a proper theatrical release as I would loved to have seen/heard it on the big screen, remarkable score and cinematography.

Nicholas Cage does Nicholas Cage like only Nicholas Cage could, but it really pays off here, one particular scene involving vodka and pants could only ever have been performed by him, it's bonkers but it works.

This will be on the midnight circuit for decades and I for one will hunt out a theatrical screening one day. I'm off to see if you can buy the film score because I've not heard better, I understand it's ineligible for the Academy Awards but otherwise would surely have been a slam dunk.
Watched this last night, I loved it, the wife hated it.

The score is on the verge of overbearing, but is perfect for the film. A future cult classic for sure.

Last night.. XXX:Return of Xander Cage

Not too bad once you remember to switch off your brain and just enjoy the film, but seriously...how much plastic surgery has Toni Collette had! eek

Yes Bohemian Rhapsody is class and highly enjoyable, also thought the sound on it is superb.

Polar. Should’ve been good. Was no John Wick. More of a comedy perhaps. I think Netflix are dropping the ball with some of these recent releases.

I suppose the clue was in having Matt Lucas as the bad guy.
I lasted a few minutes. 16% on Metacritic sums it up for me. Lame.

A Star is Born

Went in thinking 'this is not my sort of film' and ended up loving it. One of the best films I've seen in the last few months.

9/10.

Aquaman

Went into this with high expectations having read some reviews.

Boy were they wrong.

What a load of CGI bks.

I'd generously give it 3/10.

I can't remember the last film I saw with that much computer generated imagery - to be expected as it's set underwater but jesus it was in your face and not even done particularly well.

And yet it's on track to be DC's biggest ever revenue spinner.

Point Of Order: I grew up reading the comics and don't remember Aquaman being almost as invincible as Superman.

Wonder Woman was so much better.

Watched 'A Quiet Place' at the weekend.

Watchable but unremarkable. Could have been the next instalment in the Cloverfield franchise.

If they bleed, and you can kill them with a crappy shotgun, why hadn't the world's armies dealt with the aliens?

I suffered to the end last night, my god what a weird movie - was the producer schizophrenic?

Mads Mikkelsen and the love interest play it straight, the baddies play it like a cartoon.

The fights are ridiculous, people struggle on after 3 bullets to the chest, bodies are made of lead such that bullets don't pass through them

16% from RT is about right, not sure what drugs the IMDB voters were taking but they must have been decent

2/10

(are "Netflix exclusive" or "Sky exclusive" now euphemisms for st movie?)

I don't know about Sky, but with Netflix is certainly going that way, which is a shame. Straight to streaming is becoming the new Straight to DVD, but I think it's odd Netflix would dilute their brand to push a couple of crap films a year they got on the cheap when they turned out to be turkeys at the same time they spending $150m to produce 'The Irishman' with a cast and crew so brilliant that they'd have to work tireless day and night to screw it up.

Sorry To Bother You

The most inventive and original film I’ve seen in years. Utterly unlike anything else out there, I will say no more than it’s ostensibly about a telesalesman and a vision of a dystopian near future, but that makes it sound very heavy when it is lightened throughout by some very dark humour and a fantastic performance by the lead actor.

Well worth checking out. 9/10 though others will undoubtedly disagree.

Watched it Sat night with my 12 year old - both thought it was rubbish. EVERY aspect was weak. Cant recall last film I paid to see that was that bad......probably On Deadly Ground (but at least Steven solves bar based bigotry in that one)

Yep, for every Polar there's a Bird House, if was in the business of building on the Netflix brand, I'd label the straight to Netflix crap they buy cheap differently to the stuff they make that's good. Not that I know if they made Polar in-house, they certainly bought in the crap Cloverfield film that put out as "Netflix Original".
