The Dressmaker
KNew little about this, read the blurb, gave it 10 mins, it wasn't the sort of film that I thought it might be, more fun and unpredictable. Great film. Glad I watched it.

Hobbs and Shaw - Bit silly but rather fun - even Sister D enjoyed it!
I kind of want to watch that purely for the locations. They filmed part of it on Leadenhall Street that I walk twice a day, also in the Scalpel and the cheese grater
Thought it was great fun and bonus that my 12yo daughter loved it, it’s probably the first more grown up film we’ve convinced her to see.

Watched it in 4DX, first time for us first 10 mins I didn’t like it but loved it as the movie went on.

I learnt a long time ago you need to sit kids down in front of quality movies they would never otherwise pick and trust in the art!!! Once they get over the fact it's not super glossy, fast edited, nonsense most kids love a good story and are glad they were "forced" to endure it!

All mine had seen everything from Jaws to Shawshank to Goodfellas by the time they were off to secondary school. 11 year old picked Keyser Soze as his favorite villan or monster in a school drama class.....got a high five from the teacher (who was bored with hearing Voldermort and Thanos)

I watched Iron Man the other day. On a flight back from Mallorca last year, I sat next to the actor who played Raza in the film. I rather enjoyed the film. Also saw Bullitt for the the Umpteenth time but always find it a decent watch.

Cold in July

Started off a bit bland, you think you know what's going to happen, averagely acted and it was touch and go whether I continued.
A few twist in the story held my attention to the end but there was definitely a few wtf moments!

The general premise, husband shoots intruder dead, townsfolk happy as another lowlife bites the dust . Lowlife's father comes to town seeking revenge and off the story goes ....... in simple terms biggrin

Worth a watch I certainly better than a load of other tripe on the box but not one that I would watch again.

6.8/10

The Lion King in 4D

Went to the 4D Odeon in E Didsbury at the weekend. I've never experienced 4D before, and don't really like 3D that much.

It was really good fun, but it's one of those things that once you've done it, you've done it. If Top Gun 2 comes in 4D I'll definitely seeing that!

The film - as others have said it's pretty good but lacks the charm of the original, worth a watch though.

Film - 6/10 4D Experience - 8/10
What the frick is 4D?

Captain Fantastic

I missed this when it came out a few years go. I thought the movie was just about the most charming thing I have seen in a long time. Viggo Mortensen is excellent in it and probably deserving of an Oscar.

One for all the family, so long as the kids are at least 12 I think. 9/10

Any chance I can make a wee request?

This thread is brilliant and has provided some great film viewing.

When we’re listing a file is there any chance we could say where or on what platform it was watched? I generally find it but not after checking Netflix, Prime, Sky etc.

Very selfish I know but maybe help others too smile

Anyway, recently watched “Gold” on prime. Pretty enjoyable and some cracking scenery.

Watched the Tom Hanks film Sully the other night. Very interesting, enjoyable.
Right up and until you find out that the ACTUAL investigation was nothing like how they described it! There was no witch hunt. It was more boring than that.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 on Film4 tonight.

Superb film, one of my faves, it got the thumbs up from my son too. Wifey went to bed because "it's ridiculous" hehe

A crazy 88/10

Watching Schindler's List on Channel 5 and just realised they are showing it without the interruption of adverts.

What a film. Got a bit of dust in my eye at the end though.

Man On Fire popped up on Amazon Prime...

Fairly routine ex-assassin has special skills and wants revenge fare, but enjoyable.

Atomic Blonde.

Charlize Theron vehicle, good cast but a bit silly really. Her English accent is OK but she has to speak slowly to do it. Nothing you haven't seen before.

American Made

Tom Cruise flies guns 'n' coke to/from Colombia and Nicaragua for the CIA and his own pocket.

Fairly run-of-the-mill yarn based on a true story. Interesting period cars. Not much else to report.

Finally got around to seeing Good Will Hunting. A bit predictable, but has some good scenes with excellent acting I thought. I got a little emotional. I'll give it a 7.8 out of 10.
