First Man

I never knew the greatest feat of mechanical and physical engineering, culminating in one of mankinds greatest achievements could be so dull!
Opening sequence: brilliant
End sequence: perfection
Everything in between: meh.

Ryan Gosling is the main actor. Of course it would be dull.
Blade Runner was superb though - but that's more the 'vibe' than anything else.

The Witch.
... with no witch in sight.
You literally see the witch in the film don't you?

I need to re-watch the film as I actually loved it, but I'm sure you see a witch in the woods, the busty lass that kisses the son?

Also the older daughter actually becomes one, which I think is the main meaning of the title.

I just watched Chasing Bullitt.

Watched the whole thing, start to finish and I'm really not sure what to make of it.

Finally watched In Bruges

Pretty good, though I expect I am in the minority in not raving about it. Good cast, acting well, but the story went a bit too doolally for me in places.

Bad times at El Royale with Jeff Bridges. I thought it was very dark and really well done. I woke at 2 am last Wednesday morning and watched it. There was a Peter Greenaway feel to it plus the obvious Tarantino influences. Check it out.

Its free on Prime.

I dare you. biggrin
I just did so tonight and.... well, that was a whole lot worse than I remember. LOL. hehe

Decidedly low budget, and that includes the script writer(s). Incredibly stilted dialogue, and terrible acting despite the likes of Pete Postlewaite and Alun Armstrong.

It also felt very dated - particularly the music. Despite being a film made in the early 90's, it felt very 80's. And the nods to BladeRunner in some of the incidental music rather jarred.

There was also very much a WTF moment when they go down to the morgue to confront the beast. They do so without backup, and without telling anyone despite pushing their way through other Police Officers to get there.

Talking of the morgue, was that a nod to Coma?

Overall, yes, it was dire. I apologise unreservedly. paperbag

Edit: Although, having said that, there was a certain goofy B-movie charm to it. smile

The most bizarre moment was mid fighting the monster and being thrown to the floor, rutger and kim find time to have a snog. Proper WTF moment. biggrin

There are some great actors in this, which just goes to show, you need a decent script and director to make a decent film. biggrin

Anaconda - utter trash, but definitely in the so bad it's good camp. Jon Voight's lip-curling baddie is a particular highlight.

Yes he is great in that smile .

Well I carried on watching Horror channel today with the bad B movies. Plot doesn't really matter with this stuff, but 'spoilers' hehe

6 headed shark attack, the shark could walk on land, using the 2 heads on either side as feet rofl . I knew they made 2 and 3 headed shark attack films, I missed 4 and 5. 6 was from last year, not sure how many more heads they can add to a shark...

Mega Piranha. Mutated piranhas that grew and self reproduced to about the size of the fish shaped ship in Stingray, and could jump out of the water to take out helicopters.

Beyond Loch Ness. In Lake Superior (so not Loch Ness) a prehistoric Plesiosaur is protecting its eggs, when he was a kid, the heroes father was killed by a similar big bad (or the same one, not sure). The babies were sort of cute though, before they got shot in the head.

Gods of Egypt.

Did I really stay up watching this turkey 'til 1.30 in the morning? I think it was a combination of horrified fascination and the overwhelming waves of crapness pining me to the sofa. At least that's my excuse.

Stan & Ollie - Amazon Prime

I grew up with Laurel & Hardy being Saturday afternoon staples on BBC2 so this film was a very interesting and at times sad insight into the latter part of their career.

Steve Coogan and John C Reilly were perfectly cast, their resemblance was uncanny and there were lots of moments demonstrating Laurel & Hardy's mastery of comic timing.

Well worth a watch, 8 out of 10
