I originally watched 'Lost in Translation' not long after really enjoying 'Ground Hog Day'.

So you'll understand I was severely disappointed, as I was expecting another Rom Com.

I'm older, wiser and sadder now so maybe I should give it another try.

Dirty Dancing. Turns out it was a big mistake casually mentioning to my daughter that I’d never seen this masterpiece, so we sat through it last night. Other than the tunes it really was rubbish, and a lot worse than I was expecting. And to cap it all I nearly broke my back trying THAT lift with SWMBO afterwards - either I’m a bigger weed than I though or she’s a bigger lard. Either scenario will be a huge disappointment on a par with this poor effort of a film.
On a very loosely, very loosely similar theme, try Silver lining Playbook

Great film! Far, far superior.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Different people like different films, which is why we have choice.

No self-respecting Starman would drive a Mustang II which was never very fast.

I was in the mood for some st TV last night so I watched "Homefront" with The Stath - stupidly enjoyable (and implausible!)
Thanks, it's been on my PVR for ages. Went down well with a bottle of wine and I love a bit of redneck baiting smile

The Dead Don't Die

Murray, Buscemi, Glover, Swinton, Iggy Pop, Tom Waites......

Er - don't bother. Didn't really understand what it was trying to be. Marginally funny. It's no "Sean of the Dead", but seemed like that was its nearest influence. A number of good actors, but why, oh why, oh why???

As I recall, it was a spy satellite that malfunctioned and, rather than taking photos of just the enemy assets, carried on taking photos of both friend and foe, making the satellite immensely important to both sides. Hence the scramble by both sides to recover it.

Good Movie. Howard Hughes, the billionaire plus oil-man watched this film continuously while on his self imposed lockdown in Las Vegas in the 70's.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019)
Not sure what to say about this, it's 90 minutes of jokes, in-gags, references, etc. from previous Kevin Smith films along with his daughter trying to act but not hitting the mark. If you saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back you've seen most of the jokes in this one, and at least the old one had Eliza Dushku in a catsuit.

5/10, would've been 3/10 if it wasn't for one scene with Ben Affleck talking about fatherhood.

Chappie (2015)

I wanted to see this from the beginning, was put off by some mediocre reviews, finally watched it on Netflix last night, and I really loved it. Quite a lot of the plot didn't stand up to logic, but there again, life doesn't either. Sort of adult cyberpunk companion to WallE

Didn't even know it had some proper stars in, Sigourney Weaver and Hugh Jackman, also I have a weird crush on Yolandi from Die Aantwort

Yep, that's the premise.

Dull & heavy handed. Some decent shots of '60's US subs though & hammy Patrick McGoohan (sp) mildly livens things up. Poor effort otherwise.
