Good Movie. Howard Hughes, the billionaire plus oil-man watched this film continuously while on his self imposed lockdown in Las Vegas in the 70's.
Might've given him some inspiration for his/CIA etc's Glomar Explorer project (which would make for a good film (don't think it's been done)).loskie said:
I really enjoyed "Marvellous" on BBC2 on Weds a really funny really heartwarming film.
Lovely film (especially as a Stoke fan). The scenes outside the ground were actually filmed outside Crewe Alex (Stoke's ground is far too modern). It always makes me laugh when he's walking up the street with his mum, going to the job centre in the 70's and there's a modern Passat parked in the background The Spruce Goose said:
Schindlers list
Watched a few times before, but still so emotionally and a reminder that we can never let this happen again, allowing a far right party to ever get in power.
well there's your issue - I'd rather prevent any extremist party from getting into power and let's be honest here the extreme left makes Hitler's attempts at killing people look distinctly amateurish Watched a few times before, but still so emotionally and a reminder that we can never let this happen again, allowing a far right party to ever get in power.

Quantum of Solace - 6/10. Answred some of my questions from Casino Royale, but aside from that, was pretty bland for a Bond movie.
Watched it as a follow-up to Casino Royale a couple of nights ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it although Casino Royale did have the edge. Well worth seeing though.

I’m going through an Al Pacino phase at the moment. So far I’ve seen Scarface, Frankie and Johnny, the Irishman, Heat, Carlitos Way, Danny Collins all I’ve which I’ve enjoyed and I’m watching Any Given Sunday and Scent of a woman this weekend.
If you're loving a bit of Al Pacino, I'd recommend giving 'Glengarry Glen Ross' a watch if you can find it.For a film in which very little actually happens, the script and strength of the performances are everything.
Lots of memorable lines and Pacino excels, unsurprisingly.
Standout performances from everyone else, too.
A solid 9.5 Always Be Closing out of 10 $80,000 BMWs.

Mind you, so does Baldwin during his brief appearance.
An overlooked gem.

Agree re. Lemmon - fantastic performance.
Edited to add I watched Any Given Sunday recently - it's shouty. GGGR is far, far better.
[b[The Outpost[/b]
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3833480
Based on a true story about a small group of US soldiers battling with a large Taliban force from what seems like an indefensible position at the bottom of a valley in the Hindu Kush mountains. Great film, pretty much non stop action.

Chappie (2015)
I wanted to see this from the beginning, was put off by some mediocre reviews, finally watched it on Netflix last night, and I really loved it. Quite a lot of the plot didn't stand up to logic, but there again, life doesn't either. Sort of adult cyberpunk companion to WallE
Didn't even know it had some proper stars in, Sigourney Weaver and Hugh Jackman, also I have a weird crush on Yolandi from Die Aantwort
Love Chappie, seen it a couple of times, got a District 9 vibe about it (same writers/directors)I wanted to see this from the beginning, was put off by some mediocre reviews, finally watched it on Netflix last night, and I really loved it. What an eye-opening excellent film. If only more people had his attitude to life.
8.2 good friends/10 implausible opportunities

The Dead Don't Die
Murray, Buscemi, Glover, Swinton, Iggy Pop, Tom Waites......
Er - don't bother. Didn't really understand what it was trying to be. Marginally funny. It's no "Sean of the Dead", but seemed like that was its nearest influence. A number of good actors, but why, oh why, oh why???
Lasted about ten minutes of that the other week. Oh dear. Murray, Buscemi, Glover, Swinton, Iggy Pop, Tom Waites......
