See this again recently and its still a good film (although the cover looks misleading as a slasher film) "Dead Mans Shoes" and surprising someone from a non acting background (Gary Stretch) is a convincing actor so fair play to him
A brilliant film.Paddy Considine is fantastic. When I first saw this, years ago, I had never heard of Toby Kebbel. So convincing was his portrayal of Anthony that I genuinely thought they had cast an actor with an 'intellectual disability'. (I had to Google what is the appropriate politically correct term to use).Edited by Sardonicus on Thursday 19th April 10:21
Then again, when I first met my wife to be, and was introduced to her family the first time, I thought her nephew had Down's Syndrome. It was only when talking to my wife to be later, and I asked her how her brother reacted to having a Down's baby that my mistake was revealed. Fair play, she's stuck it out with me.

Fracture - older crime / courtroom drama starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and a young Ryan Gosling. Very enjoyable slow burner....decent plot twist at the end. Only bad part was the Celtic nations accent mash-up from Sir Anthony Hopkins....8/10
The only bad part is ryan gosling eating with his mouth open during the dinner sceneDaniel1 said:

The Hitman's Bodyguard - Typical 'get the witness to the court against all odds' film that's been down a hundred times before - It was OK, but forgettable. - 4/10
I, Tonya - An interesting film with good performances - Funny and sad in equal proportions, shades of Fargo, in that respect - Worth a watch - 8/10
American Made - Typical Tom Cruise fare, but certainly an interesting tale, even if it's hard to know how much is true - 7/10
War for the Planet of the Apes - Thought I'd watch this as I'd seen the others, but this really did seem a film too far - The title, too, seems totally misleading and it goes on for far too long with little happening - a disappointing 3/10 (I enjoyed the first one and the second, albeit a bit less).
The Life Aquatic - A spoof on Jacques Cousteau documentaries and a very quirky film - I quite enjoyed it, but it was very silly at times, rather dull at others, but the odd scene really lifted it - Hints of Grand Hotel Budapest at times - Great cast, who all seemed to be having fun! - 6/10

The Homesman, cansarnit I love these new westerns. Tommy Lee and swank are both exceptional, as they normally are.
A lovely harsh slice of frontier life
Are you insane, that was terrible.A lovely harsh slice of frontier life
I can see the idea but the execution just didn't work.
Big Jake
A fading John Wayne from the late 70s allied to a poor attempt to update the Western with automobiles and motorbike, obviously proving inferior to the old neddies.
Really overly bright blood, a dog that looked more like Lassie than The Baskervilles and actors with very bright Hollywood teeth made the film unconvincing and the usual one shot kills baddies, ten shots won't kill a good guy nonsense.
Still worth it just to hear him say "The hell I will" 5/10
Super Troopers Saw it for the first time since it came out ages ago; haven't laughed so hard in a long time. I knew ST2 was on it's way but it turns out it was released in the US today (of course, 420 etc etc) and from what little clips I've seen, it looks like it's going to be a faithful sequel to the original!
A Quiet Place
I'm not a fan of horror movies, but this was really good - but an insane amount of tension the whole way thru. Story line could easily have been integrated into live, die, repeat, or cloverfield series
Watched it in the Dolby cinema which gives you a kick in the back at dramatic moment which slightly detracted from the film...

Steven king is the most over rated writer ever.
I mean come on a huge waste of Idris, he needs a decent film he chooses poorly.
