South Pacific (1958). 50th anniversary edition blu-ray.

Just the film for a dull afternoon, i like this film more than many, 8.5/10

the picture and audio quality, for a film shot in 1958 is stunning.

I loved watching Bob Hopes Road films in the 60's, top entertainment at the time.......
Painful now. There again, I never found any of his films funny, more personal ego trips.
Bob was the man for the job at the time. Hugely talented in comedy, dancing and acting, (although obviously typecast as himself!).

I read somewhere, sometime ago that as great a comedian as he was he never did write any of his own gags!

'The Professionals' from 1966. What a cast. Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, Jack Palance, Robert Ryan and Claudia Cardinale.

Once Upon A Time In The West (1968)

Slow burning Sergio Leone western, pitting Charles Bronson against Henry Fonda. Very good.

7.5 meatballs out of 10 spaghetti bologneses.

The Jackal (1997) iPlayer

Pro-hitman’s contracted by Russki mobsters to take out the head of the FBI following killing of their mate.

Dour remake of the much superior The Day Of The Jackal despite a decent cast. Few good locations used – Montreal Metro, and a couple of bonus points for spots of Sikorsky CH53’s, Lada Samara & a Yak-40 on the tarmac at a Finnish airport.

THE classic Spaghetti Western, great film.

Great Ennio Morricone soundtrack also.

If I recall. Richard Gear with some kind of awful Oirish accent, Bruce Willis kisses a man which caused all sorts of gasps from the audience back in the day and Jack Black loses an arm?

Can't have aged well.

The fact that the rest of the acting was a bit pants and the story line was really unoriginal. I would only give it a 6 out of 10 and most of that is for Theron.

Project A.L.F 1996

It was fun then and fun now. I did forget how much he liked cats though, and how much the bugger ate.

Spot on. For a '97 film it feels much older.

The accent's funny for a couple of seconds & the arm shot's pretty decent effects.

I didn't know there was a film, I loved the series. Gotta look that up. Thanks.

The Mask, with the 9yo. She loved it. Pretty good effects considering it was 1994.
Cameron Diaz looking very hot.

Ad Astra

Enjoyed it not sure why, probably just because space and pacing. He sure is one unlucky chap. Actuall he’s lucky every fker else though.

6 that ain’t rights out of 10 physics wtf

Logan lucky.
Liked the characters, usually would have loved this but the writing was off. There was no tension, never was it in doubt that they would pull it off. All too slick worked too well. The ‘twist’ the pay off for the prisoner who helped them, the timing of it all.
Went from thick as fk hillbillies to genius level intricate planners With every single detail covered.

Hmm
4/10

Snatch

I hadn't seen it for a while and really enjoyed it. Obviously full of classic lines but I noticed one I hadn't spotted before. Tommy is explaining to Turkish that he shouldn't be drinking milk, and describes cows as "running around mad as lorries".

No idea if that is just a line in the film or a genuine saying.

Absolutely Anything

Simon Pegg, a failed writer and school teacher is given the ability to do anything with a wave of his hand by a set of superior being aliens.

They use this as a judgement to see if Earth should be destroyed or not - if Pegg uses the powers only for good Earth is saved, if he used them for his own benifit then the planet will be destroyed.

Light hearted, daft movie but one that completely passed me by when it came out five years ago.

Vertigo

Tale of a man’s obsession with a fantasy woman. Possibly it’s about Hitchcock’s own obsession with trying to turn his female lead into his fantasy of perfection.

Not my favourite from Hitchcock. Bit too experimental and arty for my taste. Buy I can’t get it out of my head.

I think I need to watch it again.

Watched it last night and started to realise it was Apocalypse Now in space, but turned out not to be.

Thought it was OK, held my interest but ultimately it was quite depressing.
