Taxi 5

Did not know there was a 5, thought they stopped with 4 back in 2007, they should have, the latest one (well I say latest one, it is a 2018 film) has lost some of the magic of the originals. 5 ubers (maybe 6 at a push) out of 10 ride shares

The final scene at the house on the moor was dreadful IMO!

Actually, you're right. It should have been a mountain, and it should have exploded.

Totally agree. Not only did it make no sense but, as I alluded to, the improvised defences were reminiscent of Home Alone.

Would be good if they could remake the endings of Home Alone, and Skyfall, but swap the booby traps/defenses used in each film. biggrin

Hell and high water on film4 tonight at 9...and 10. Brilliant film, well worth a watch
Enjoyed that.
yes that's a really good film.
Just rewatched it, even better second time round. A real western feel to it, even the end scene leaves me tingling. This is part of director Taylor Sheridan's frontier trilogy, as he calls them, which include Sicario and Wind River, both also rather wonderful films

They are all good - H&HW's the pick though IMO; has an air of No Country For Old Men about it.

I'd never made that connection - Skyfall / Home Alone, funny though.

Bit that always irritates me in Skyfall is after Bond collects the DB5 from his lock-up he races off, seemingly leaving the Jag outside & the lock-up door open.

Luce on Sky Premiere

Tim Roth and Naomi Watts have an adopted coloured child who is seen as a "poster boy" at his local school but all is not what it seems.
Really enjoyed it.
8/10

Palm Beach on Sky Premiere

Despite having some well known and normally good actors, it was rather disappointing. Basically an old band get together with their families to celebrate the birthday of their manager.
2/10

Agreed although I enjoyed them all for different reasons. Wind river is up there, languid pace, beautifully shot and suddenly savagely violent.

Couple I watched

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Next Generation -1995
Absolutely bat st crazy film, it's like a parody of the franchise.
So much ridiculous stuff going on, you'll either hate it or love it for what it is.

Some teens on their way from prom get lost in the woods are tracked and killed by cannabilistic pyschos
Starring a young Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger.

I'm not sure what year it's meant to be filmed in but looks like the 50's.

Notable key ridiculous things include
Multiple escapes but end up getting caught again.
MM having a homemade robotic leg type thing that's controlled by TV remotes with one scene in particular where MM & RZ having a remote each and controlling the leg.
Leatherface being some sort of cross dressing child like pyscho.
Some sort of secret illuminati suit organisation that lets the killings occur.

So bad it's just hilarious - 5/10

Volition - 2020
Low budget sci-fi about a guy that has the gift of seeing into the future momentarily which he uses to his advantage to get through life until one of the visions then sees him getting killed so he tries to change the events leading up to that moment.
For a low budget film this was quite a interesting film and had a good story to it.
I enjoyed it, decent little film and worth a watch 7/10.

Happens all the time in movies. Some thing make no sense. Usually for the sake of continuity. How exciting would Bond parking up the Jag and closing the garage door be?

We have to assume a lot in most films. Do we see them shaving every morning, taking the dog for a walk, having a row with the missus etc?

Totally (and agree), that particular scene's annoyed me though - I hope that as a conscientious chap he would've parked the Jag in the unit as that might've been handy for the future, and closed the door to secure his worldly possessions - must've been some cool kit in there smile

Cosmos

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4477292

Cosmos explores the thrilling first hours of first contact when three astronomers accidentally intercept what they believe to be a faint, coded signal from a distant alien civilisation

Underrated first contact type drama/sci-fi, will be a little slow for some, especially the first half, but enjoyed it myself.
