Palm Springs.
An enjoyable, brain switched off couple of hours. Both leads are likeable and funny and there's some decent supporting characters. Plenty of laugh out load moments.
It's basically groundhog day for the 20s but that film's a favourite of mine and the premise is worth a revisit.
Really enjoyed this, yes it’s schmaltzy at the end but it knows it too, and is very funny on the way

The Birdcage

Not seen it in years. Still a brilliant comedy. Nathan Lane and Hank Azaria both excellent as supporting actors.

9 Guatemalans out of 10
I prefer the original, probably because we had to watch in French class. Both good films though.

Just spent a couple of hours with a big grin on my face accompanied by belly laughs, a great musical soundtrack and a ticket to chaos central. Which movie?

The Blues Brothers, of course.

Opposite for me. First time I watched it I turned it off at the mall car scene, it didn't hold me at all. . Second time I watched it a few years later I made it past that bit and never looked back.

Two utter stinkers avoid both Netflix and embarrassingly bad - cringe acting, script and daft action scenes with no semblance of reality

Line of Duty
The Courier

I sacrificed my time for the greater good.
You’re welcome

It is strange that you class Line of Duty like this, because it is a highly rated series wherever you look.
Just goes to probe how opinions can vary greatly. biggrin

P.S. I have not seen it.

He's not referring to the series, he's referring to a film called Line of Duty.

Framed (1975)
On Freeview Talking Pictures last night.
Joe Don Baker framed for a murder, does time, gets even.
Same old...lots of gratuitous violence and blood but an epic of its time when they knew how to make movies without CGI.
Guest appearance from that black killer dog with the pointy ears too. Some good tasters on y_tube.

Talking of ears, one of the baddies is persuaded to talk the hard way with a close range .38.

Right up my street, along with Charlie Varrick, Point Blank and The Outfit. They dont make em like that anymore.

8 corvette / 10 impalas.

Movie related so here goes.
The Real Inglorious B@stards on the other night.

The true story of 2 Jews and a Luftwaffe deserter in the OSS, parachuted into the Alps to observe transport between Germany and Italy.
Unbelievable heroism and resulting in Innsbruck being saved as an open town. One guy was caught and tortured but showed forgiveness when he met the SS later when circumstances were reversed.
Fascinating bit of real history which the movie couldn't be substituted. Hope it's on again.

F/X2, which I notice is on again today, but I watched it last week sometime. Sequel to "F/X - Murder by Illusion", Bryan Brown plays a toy designer (special effects guy in the first film) who has to use his skill to save his life after a plot to help the police trap a suspect goes wrong. They're both quite enjoyable films, a bit dated in some parts, but they do end (and start, to be fair) in a very similar way. Also has Brian Dennehy in both.

The Blues Brothers gets better as you get older. “We’re on a mission from God”.

The Royal Tenebaums Blu-ray. A weaker first half snowballs into a strong finish but it’s no life aquatic.

7/10

Scarface UHD blu-ray 4k - 4k and HDR gives a picture to die for, the score is also cracking. 3 hours of fun, with the exception of the infamous chainsaw scene. Well worth a re-watch on 4k blu-ray.

Interstellar, on Sky UHD

I assume sky have had a little play with the sound (if you remember loud SFX and near inaudible voices). Anyway way, it is absolutely brilliant. So much better i no longer need to mess around with the volume control

Been meaning to watch this for years, now downloading.

Trolls 2:World Tour

(I have a four year old)

Seemed to have way more attention spent on making it appeal to the adults than the kids, plus it's the visual equivalent of eating 20 bags of Haribo Super Sours and necking a case of Red Bull.

Worth it to see Ozzy, George Clinton and Mary j Blige playing Troll kings and queens. Or perhaps not.

Greyhound.

A re-enactment of the North Atlantic convoys of the 2nd world war. Quite tense at times, well made, well acted but ultimately a bit hollow.

Robert Evans. The man who told Francis Ford Coppola to ' You shot me a picture, now go out and cut me a movie ' About the Godfather of which the first edit was not so great.

He also told Mia Farrow to tell Frank Sinatra to ps off when old blue eyes told her to leave the set of Rosemaries baby (she was married to frank, he divorced her sending the papers to the set). He had balls.

The narration style of this film is great.

Just watched this, agree with this summary. Also, “How to Build a Girl” was inflicted on me (Amazon). Bloody awful. 2/10.
