My local multiplex have allocated 6 screens for this at midnight tonight.
Mine has three screens showing it - and only a midnight showing.I think IW had at least double this - and i'm sure I saw that they were doing post midnight showings at 3am and 6am too.
Looking at the seat allocation, with only an hour to go - the 2D showing (in the largest screen by the looks of it) only has 17 seats booked so far, Imax has 25 but the 3D screen has.....none....oops

Is anyone from here even going to a midnight showing?
First time I’ve not bothered in the Disney era and I can’t say I know anyone else who is going either. Their used to be a huge bunch of us who would go together.
Same here. Four of us have been to the midnight showings as if a ritual. But not for this one. First time I’ve not bothered in the Disney era and I can’t say I know anyone else who is going either. Their used to be a huge bunch of us who would go together.
I've just booked for tonight (I have a free evening and a Limitless pass) but I really have zero excitement or interest despite being a huge SW nerd. Very few seats booked.
I'm hoping the lack of excitement works in its favour. I was really excited about Ready Player One and felt really down about it after, this might be the opposite!

Saw Solo this evening and quite enjoyed it actually. Better effort than some of the recent SW movies. I'm not much of a SW nerd but as an evening's entertainment this is done well enough. The litmus test was the wife chose this movie, and not me, because she's a fan of Emilia Clarke. She's not been able to watch any of the SW movies in full, despite repeat attempts we've always had to turn them off because they never interested or entertained her. But Solo now has, so maybe this is the angle which should have been taken a few years ago with regards to introducing SW to a new generation.
I enjoyed it a lot. However I’m confused as to the time line. I’m assuming this was set in between episode 3 and 4 but several years before Rogue One. Chewie was in The Clone Wars and it’s not clear to me how he ended up where he did in Solo movie. In addition at the end of Solo a character appears that I presumed was dead after the end of episode 3..
Also for decades I believe that those golden dice that hung in the Falcon in episode 4 and then seen again in TLJ were used in a game of Sabaac and we’re the lucky dice that solo used to win the Falcon from Lando. However the version of Sabaac they played in Solo didn’t use the dice. Perhaps I take it too seriously 🙄
.. I’ll say no more until other have watched it

I was completely indifferent to it. It wasn't a great movie and it wasn't a bad movie, my biggest criticism would be that I was simply bored. My main fear was that it would annoy me, particularly a new actor in Han's shoes, but not for a single moment in the entire film did I ever think it was Han Solo, so it never bothered me.
Glover as Lando was the clear highlight, he absolutely nailed it and at the same time made the character his own. That aside I just didn't think it felt like a Star Wars film in any way, I was also amazed at how light on gags it was.
I saw a quote that said it was the most relentless action film since Speed and I'd completely agree with that. It's an entire movie of action scenes and set pieces with almost nothing inbetween. Unlike Speed, however, it's completely at the expense of any characterisation.

.
Some might say that is a bit of a flaw in a Han Solo origin story .

What's more, the recent films have devalued SW for me to the point at which I cannot even watch the original films. However, I've read today that Disney are giving green light to a solo Boba Fett movie, which made me chuckle.
that's sad. If they'd release the originals in the cinema (unfked versions), I'd go watch them.Bona Fett...a character that gave Han a run for the money in the cool stakes, fked over too many times. I reckon Disney is just gonna keep scrambling around at beloved characters to see if they can get a 'hit.'

Having just watched the original 3 for the first time in 20 years, the CGI was as good the Rock in the second Brendan Fraser Mummy film. I could look past the rubber puppets. But the mostly un-needed CGI has ruined them.Bona Fett...a character that gave Han a run for the money in the cool stakes, fked over too many times. Some of it though is probably not helped by watching it on a 4K tv compared to originally seeing it on a CRT.
