They ran the trailer before Ready Player One last night and it really is painful. It would take some doing for the wheels to fall off Star Wars completely for Disney but I fear they're going to have a good crack at it.

In the UK at least even average reviews are going to see Solo squeezed out extremely quickly, the release schedule in May/June is crazy.

Seems like they tried to get every cliche line ever into the film.

Not hopeful about this one.
I'll be waiting for proper fan reviews on this before spending money in the cinema.

New TV spot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUXd7p_vd3w

Are Disney getting desperate and releasing too much footage?

Didn't even know this was coming until it featured in the Renault advert I saw over the weekend..

Spin-offs, hmmm, we'll see

Though whether that's at the cinema, or on dvd, don't yet know.

Too many potential blockbusters being released either side.

We have Infinity War this week and Deadpool 2 a week before Solo hits. Then we have Jurassic world 2 (which based on the latest trailer - looks like it might be awesome) a week or so after Solo - plus the The Incredibles 2 and Mission Impossible and Ant Man in the weeks following.

I think this combined with the mixed fan reception TLJ got (not to mention the well publicised production issues Solo has faced) will severely harm it's box office figures.

It's just too much, it's overload. Out of all of them, IW1 and Deadpool are mist sees for me

It really is in for a kicking. Almost as if this was done deliberately. Aware of its difficult gestation and the backlash over TLJ they are preparing their excuses which will have less to do with the mediocrity of the movie and more to do with the competition.....

So, the news has now broken that Aldrn Ehrenreich has signed a three-movie deal with Disney/Lucasfilm. So, this isn't so much another in-betweeny prequel like Rogue One as the first in a spin-off franchise?

Oh dear! Disney really are throwing everything at this to try and recoup the investment.

Does his story actually need telling. Sometimes less is more.

Personally i'm not all that interested in fleshing out Han's backstory. It's more appealing to me that he was just a.n.other smuggler who happened to get caught up in the rebellion.

If they start bashing movies out - they are going to have to start inventing new and 'interesting' things he has been crucially involved in, events he has come close or existing characters he has somehow interacted with.

The Maz Kanata thing is a huge hole they could fill (especially considering her nonsensical shoe-horned appearance in TLJ). Unlikely though as the direction Star Wars is now taking is to go the exact opposite way from any logical conclusion.

I can't help thinking that at this rate a lot of the Disney Star Wars output is going to end up as straight to home-release fodder.

biggrin well they had hopes there.
As the bullstter guy says, the second spidey had a multiple film deal. If Solo goes under 1 billion, I don't see a sequel, I reckon it'll get 800million.

the bs guy makes an excellent point on too much explaining, nothing is going to be left to the imagination and that is the keystone reason why this idea for a film is the colossal turd that it is. It'll remove all the enigma from the coolest guy in Star Wars

Didn't I just make exactly that point a few posts up biggrin

I reckon $800 million is optimistic. I'll give it middle of the road MCU money - $600 million worldwide (50% of that domestic).

This concerns me now. Before the utterly dreadful Last Jedi was released, Disney trumpeted that Rian Johnson was getting three movies to fk up.
