Here's a link to his output -

You can see he likes sci-fi in general but especially anything to do with Gerry Anderson.

That is awesome! As I posted earlier, the Skydiver interceptor was my favourite UFO vehicle.

I also watched the one where an alien and one of the moonbase crew get stranded together. Quite thought provoking for what was essentially a kids program.
It wasn't though (unless you consider ALL sci-fi to be kids stuff).

This (and the latter and rather dull, I always thought, Space 1999) were Anderson's attempt to break out of the 'kids stuff' mould and the storylines were far too dark and complex for children - Death was nearly always involved, as was pyschological or physical torture and more than a hint of sex (for TV for the time).

I bought the first half of the series on DVD a few years back - Some episodes have stood the test of time well, but others look horribly clunky and hammy. Moonbase is particularly hilarious - Why would the women who work there have any need to wear purple wigs????!?!?!?

I keep thinking I'll treat myself to the second half, but haven't got around to it yet.

Whereas The Sweeney (I know, VERY different) holds up very well to rewatching, UFO is, for me, more an exercise in nostalgia.

I still get excited when Skydiver launches though, definitely my favourite Anderson machine! biggrin

Considering the tight budget that Anderson was on I'd say it has stood up very well overall, if Lew Grade hadn't thrown so much into 'The Persuaders' in 1970 it may have been even better. ITC were certainly on a roll at the time though and the body of work still hits the spot, mostly.

Not forgetting ITC films amongst which are: The Return of the Pink Panther, The Eagle Has Landed, Cross of Iron (involved but not on the credits), Capricorn One, The Boys from Brazil and Escape to Athena. oh and Raise the Titanic, or Lower The Atlantic as Lew Grade often suggested would be cheaper.

With my nerdy hat on, I have to tell you that that is actually a Skydiver interceptor. Skydiver was the whole sub and for each Skydiver (1,2,3 etc.) the interceptor was know as Sky 1, 2, 3 etc.

I remember all that... I'm a tad less nerdy.
But I think I need to buy the box set now.

I’m going to get the box set too! It’s like Christmas with this and a new series of Lost in Space starting on Netflix in April.

It was often an incredibly dark series.

The episode where Straker has to choose between saving the life of his young son or carrying out the mission...

Organ Harvesting Aliens, cover ups, conspiracy's etc - years ahead of its time.

See also the Space:1999 episode 'Dragons Domain' for more of the same.

I particularly like the green Routemaster bus.
It's actually based on the bus he used to take to school - and yes, it really was that decrepit looking when in service.

Great to see some of these models at full resolution.

Are these all made from kits? Are they special kits - not kids toy kits obviously.

They are essentially kits. Some are mainstream injection moulded (the Routemaster Bus is Revell) and some are more specialist resin or limited run plastic kits.

I seem to remember that Stingray is based on a toy which Andrew "accurised".

There's a really talented guy who posts on one of the facebook groups who builds studio sized models the Skydiver, Shado Mobiles and the UFOs.

Some of the other actors in the show might be familiar...

Gary Myers aka the Milk Tray man from the same period... before getting into TV he was a beach bum in Australia...

Harry Baird, aka 'Big William' the coach driver in 'The Italian Job'...

Found some more shots of the restored Moke based six wheeler... used to get told off at school for doodling pics of these on my exercise books!
