UFO was the first Gerry Anderson series where I lusted after more than the models.

I had the pleasure smile of meeting Gabrielle Drake a few years ago at one of the Nick Drake (her equally talented, but alas departed, brother) events - she has aged rather well! - loved UFO - I don't know why - must have been the vehicles laugh

I saw her on stage in London back in 1983. She was still stunning.

The closing credits had to be influenced by the wonderful use of Ligeti's music in 2001 A Space Odyssey?

I thought the Joe 90 closing music was very chilled and a nice contrast to the famous Big Rat opening score.

There are "2001" influences in a lot of Gerry Anderson stuff - especially "UFO" and "Space 1999". I think some of the people who worked on "2001" also worked with Anderson.

Eric - think of the special effects talent that was around at Pinewood in the late 60's thanks to 2001! UFO still looks fantastic today - the model work is stunning. The drama not always so, but a lot of it stands up really well too and the overall atmosphere of creepiness has rarely been matched.

I have a feeling Brian Johnson worked on 2001 before moving onto UFO.

He did. He went on to design the Eagle Transporter in "Space 1999".
