Saw it today. It’s absolutely, 100% a Predator movie by the numbers with a lot more silliness thrown in for good measure.

It’s defjnitely better than some of the turds in the franchise, but not a patch on the best. If you like Predators, as I do, then it’s worth a watch especially on the big screen. I have a feeling it’ll be utterly pants on a boring normal humdrum 60” 4K curved telly. (PH standard)

Yeah pretty good film with a cleverish addition to the storyline as to why the predators are here.

I don't read news or reviews so I had no idea what to expect, I've also avoided all the sequels.

I enjoyed this quite a bit.

I love 80s action movies and this was an 80s action movie through and through, silly schlocky fun, bad effects, ultra violent, extreme gore, some very questionable gags and it makes a running joke out of a particular disorder for nearly the whole film.

I've no idea how it got made as it is, but I think that's why I liked it. It's a throwback and nothing more. I assume the reviews are utterly terrible.

Saw it last night. Pile of garbage really, found some parts pretty funny but then it just went too slap stick for me.

There are lots of Pred nerds out there who are up in arms about this version being an insult to the franchise, but as an action movie with a big bag of popcorn, it worked for me!

I believe there were some issues making the film, some of it is excellent, other parts are a bit rushed with nonsensical decisions, but i just let it wash over me and enjoyed the ride, maybe i'm easily pleased (6.5/10).

Could this be viewed by somebody who knows nothing of the original Predator stories, or background?
Could they just walk in and view it and it would stand on its own two feet ?
If I go to see this I suspect the wife will come too, and she knows nothing of the Predator stories.

Yes. There is reference to the other two alien visits. The government in this film know what they are and why they come to earth.

It's worth reading the book in advance of watching the movie

The book deals with the lead up and finishes where the film then takes over

Easily watchable as a standalone film in my opinion. The plot is incoherent anyway!

There's a missed opportunity here...just watch the Original instead, still an awesome film and a better way to spend a couple of hrs thumbup

If it was on the big screen I'd take her along. But I know she won't watch the original at home on the TV. wink

You could take a lobotomised rabbit along it's that daft. The first Predator would be turning in his (atomised) grave. Seriously go Mamma Mia 2 instead, you won't live it down otherwise.

I went to see this yesterday and Jesus it was poor. The production values wouldn't be out of place on the set of neighbours. They spent bugger all on this film and it showed.

It had the look and feel of the 2nd Aliens versus Predators film in tone but then couldn't make its mind up whether it wanted to be a Predator film, a full on comedy or 1980's Spielberg film with the kids in Halloween outfits scene.

Taking Predators...really?

And the first predator is here to help mankind but when he wakes up he immediately goes on a butchering spree? Logic fail?

Dogs from an Alien planet that know how to play "fetch"...ffs.

And a Predator killing suit...created by...the Predators?

And the CGI for the large Predator was horrific.

In short this should have been a straight to DVD film. Netflix are making better stuff lately.

2/10 and the 2 is for the very funny jokes.

There's a lateish night showing at the cinema here of 11:15pm. I could make the screening but Firefox is currently on the TV which is probably going to be a better bet.
Maybe tomorrow.

Watched this, thought the bits on the predator were hilarious, MIke reckons that Black & Decker tried to make the worst film possible for a bet. Also, the original ending is brought up, where good guy predators helps th soldiers and are driving tanks are things....sounds like the sort of story I'd have made with my star wars and action force dolls. biggrin
