Lisa Tarbuck is an exellent presenter. Relevant, funny, great music and good rapore.
Oh god no - if I have to listen to one more sentence where she puts on a fake laugh whilst talking at the same time - it'll top myself.+1 for what has happened to Paul Jones blues on a monday night too....what qualifies "right on" cerys matthews over Paul Jones?
as for drivetime... i miss matt and nigel barden - the confessions aren't the same even though they are the same if you get my drift.... i'll keep listening and give it time but i'm not overly impressed so far

Equality! Nothing else matters, don't you know that?!It's like two separate people trying to present the same show from two different studios. Constantly interrupting each other or not knowing who is supposed to be talking.
Ken Bruce and Sara Cox are the only good things left on Radio 2

This was the only show I listened to, going to miss it! Everything worked, the people, the chemistry...

The BBC have a guaranteed source of license-payer funding so for those making the programming decisions, pushing their own dogmatic political beliefs is more important than making stuff that the plebs actually want to listen to.The BBC have stuffed it, the ratings are likely to plummet, and so what have they achieved?
Definitely time to re-consider the license fee. It has traditionally been justified on the grounds that they can make innovative shows that take risks that wouldn't be made on commercial channels but it's obvious that those with political agendas are calling the shots now and just using it to push their own PC propaganda.

You only have to watch Watchdog to see how the BBC has become. Apart from Matt Allright, they're all terrible presenters but because woman, disabled or northern it's simply doesn't matter any more. Just box ticking to appease idiots.

One also I often had a chuckle wuth the drones phoning in for friday whatever, but that surely was it's charm, just some meaningless wallpaper that sent us on our way singing along, with a gently sarcastic Mayo getting away with just enough to keep us guessing.
There were no issues, no adjendas, no boxes to lick, it's now fking hateful.
If anyone fancies a paralel box ticking journey, try "The Split" I'ts very good, we're thoroughly enjoying it, but holy fk, just count the boxes, enough to fill an entire storage facility.
Run for the hills
Not just me then... Jo's fine doing her late night musical smugness but this show just doesn't work.
Not going to miss Matt's thick ideas on the homework though I must admit.
The real problem with Radio 2 though is they need to figure out what their demographic is and target it properly. They've been targeting the boomers for the last 30+ years; what BBC content are their kids (me) without DAB supposed to listen to? No one over the age of 21 with half a brain should be listening to radio 1. So presumably the likes of Evans and this new Mayo/Wylie bks is for us. The whole station just doesn't seem to know who it is for.
The boomers need enticed over to Radio 4 sharpish. Tarbuck, Page, Feltz, Vine and to a lesser extent Wriht need to go with them. Johnnie Walker can stay because he's cool and even us millenials grudgingly agree that the 70s was the best decade in music.
Either that or 6 needs an FM slot.
All based on the assumption that the BBC would like to use their 5 (?) national FM stations to cover the tastes of the vast majority of the population demographics.

We need about 20 different BBC radio musical channels to cater for all the varying demographic groups.
And now in the days of digital, that should be pretty easy. The BBC must have a hundred radio presenters, and most of them are better than Jo Whiley, so lets give them all national shows on relatively tightly focussed stations, whilst they also keep doing the local radio stuff.
Jo Whiley's 300k a year (or whatever) buys you five superior alternatives. Can't be bad.

Steve Wright should be removed from the air waves with immediate effect. Not going to miss Matt's thick ideas on the homework though I must admit.

6 should definitely be on FM.
4 is intelligent, informative talk, it has almost zero crossover with the sort of bland, middle of the road music and Jeremy Vine's Daily Mail-Esque (well paid) idiocy for 30-100 (and 110 if you are Eric Mc) year olds that Radio2 (the default choice for middle England) is "aimed" at -with all the precison of a dented, bent blunderbus packed with carpet tacks.
My first dip into this thread and I agree with the sentiments expressed here.
BBC just ticking a box and delivering a show that is truly woeful. You can tell Mayo is not happy and I'll be astonished if he's still there in six months.
Wiley is woeful, not a daytime radio presented and never will be.
For me now my BBC radio day goes: Keaveny from the time I wake until 9:30 Ken Bruce. Midday don't listen. 1:00pm to 4:00pm RadMac and that's it.
Radio 2 was good once, now it's just bloody awful except for the Bruce Oasis in the morning. Sadly I'll give him just a couple of years and they'll bring in a female to replace him, or possibly Trevor Nelson.
The fact is, blokes make better radio presenters than women do. Peel, Walker, Everett, Bruce, Radcliffe, Edmonds, Powell, Travis (yes really), Davis, Jensen, Blackburn.... the list goes on. I honestly cannot think of a single female presenter who I would make a point of listening to.

Bit of a general statement but lets look at some options. Steve Wright or a random Russian woman found on the street who doesn't speak English? We'd all prefer the Russian. To be fair we'd all prefer white noise...I always preferred the R2 breakfast show when Sara Cox sat in for Chris Evans.
There are at least as many terrible male presenters as female it's just the female ones haven't traditionally been given the big jobs. Victoria Coren Mitchell is a very good presenter, although I fancy her and would listen to her read the instructions for an Ikea book shelf.
I like Jo Whiley on her own show where it's clear she loves the music. She's just not an ideal prime time presenter. I'd rather have her in place of Steve Wright any day though.
