Bruce, Vine and Wright are all utter garbage and need to go. Be very hard to get someone worse to replace them, male or female.

Hard to understand the rationale (I was going to say mentality, but didn’t want to appear rude) of someone who rates Wright but not Mayo ...
Id say the opposite. At least SW is mildly entertaining. SM, just dull. Very dull. I just cant listen to it. If i want something above entertaining, more interllectual, then there are other stations.

There is no rationale, its just what i like.

Strongly disagree, Steve Wright seems to think he is stil in the 80's surrounds with giggling sychophants, talks over the music, never tells you what the songs he plays are.

Just an awful, awful DJ.

Mayo can do news, talk, humour, knows a lot about bands and music and is generally a DJ I ahve always enjoyed whether on 5 live or R2.

Other than Wogan I can't think of many better.

Would you like some coloured beads to play with?

Spot on. SW is a dinosaur that’s been relying on (and has got away with) regurgitating the same old hackneyed ‘entertainment’ for decades. He’s paid £550-600k by Aunty for producing this rubbish.

As Gary29 says, if Radio 2 is in the throes of an update, how his job is safe is beyond me.

It's the clapping that gets me

Mayo on his own and ken Bruce i don't mind if I'm on the motorway. Nice and low key, which is what I like

For me the drive time show has never been as good a it was when Johnnie Walker presented it. It's been going down hill since 2006 when he left with only a slight upturn when Mayo took it over.

Really good piece of journalism here by the Radio Times on what's going wrong at R2.

Yup, interesting read and this bit cheered me up no end...

A leading showbusiness agent, though stressing that he knows of no such specific moves or negotiations, says: “If I were a commercial radio rival to the BBC, I’d conclude that what has happened with Evans and Mayo has shown how the all-powerful Radio 2 might be taken down. I’d go in with a big-last-payday mega-offer for Steve Wright and see what happened. I’d be surprised if their resolve isn’t tested again.”

Agreed, a very interesting read.

So potentially, if Chris Evans had only jumped ship 6 months earlier we could have had Zoe Ball put into place then and R2 wouldn’t have needed to enforce the charade that was putting two presenters on Drive.

I had to turn it off this morning on my drive into the office. I scanned around Absolute, Smooth and then Virgin but got sick of the adverts so I put Stanley Road album on the media player. No radio...

I had to chuckle last week, SW plugging 'the jockin' relentlessly all week, giving a 48 hour count down etc, then when Friday arrives, he rings in sick and can't do it. I'm sure he'll be plugging the non-feature today though....4 days in advance.

On the plus side we're getting diversity, on the minus side we're getting progressively worse presenters.

I had the misfortune to hear around 90 seconds of the woeful Gary Davies who must have been standing in for the pitiful SW. He seemed to be encouraging the listening public to phone in if they were 'doing something beginning with 'G', such as gardening, golfing, grinning...'

I was this > < far away from phoning in to respond with 'gasping at how fking useless you are', but held my resolve. Surely no-one with a modicum of sense can find such dross as anything but risible?

And just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, apparently Rylan Clark-Neal is taking over Zoe Ball’s Saturday afternoon show.

Have the BBC had enough of Radio 2 and want to shut it down or something? They’re heading the right way, if so.

Another 3-hours of radio 2 that I won’t be listening to. I listened to about 1/2an hour in the summer and he was dreadful.

I do not know where he has come from, but apparently he won Big Brother.

At least Frank Spencer had a certificate for 25yds breast stroke. Hopefully the guy comes cheaply.

SW is STILL doing serious jockin' it's not even a feature,
The moment I hear mention of "no G" I switch channels. I honestly thought, the 1st time I heard it that is was kind of an OK joke, but bad, but funny for being bad, in as much as I assumed it was a one off. When I heard it come back the following Friday I thought, "oh, ok, he's going there again". Then the the truth became apparent - it's a weekly permanent thing!. Some people (a lot I guess) actually find the missing G thing funny, again and again.

I do wonder about people sometimes......
