I for one am glad to hear Jo Whiley is now gainfully employed on R2.

It keeps her away from anything I might be listening to.

I enjoyed her late night shows and I’ve always enjoyed Drivetime - I really enjoyed it when Chris Evans used to do it on R2

I don’t get putting two individuals who work great separately together when neither have worked together before.

A bit like the Declan and Jo Swash show.

Lisa Tarbuck is an exellent presenter. Relevant, funny, great music and good rapore.
Oh god no - if I have to listen to one more sentence where she puts on a fake laugh whilst talking at the same time - it'll top myself.

Irrational hate of Jo Whiley for years...
Don't worry, it's quite rational. Another poster used the word smug and I thought that was quite apt.

Posted in this thread before. Mayo didn't respond to my direct tweet. frown

Got home from work last evening to find that my wife, the permanent BBC R2 listener, excluding Vine & Wright, has now swtiched to Absolute Radio on t'interweb. (Listening overseas.)

yes “love the show”

Always a bonus when he’s away.

I've only just caught up with the new format as I've not been commuting by car recently. From the little I've heard it just doesn't work. They just seem to be reading alternate lines from a script, rather than having a rapport.

If they did it to improve the show they have failed (it was fine). If they did it for PC reasons then they should have just replaced a different male DJ with a woman.

If I was Simon Mayo I would be dusting off the CV.

Was it?

A 'victory' over whom and what?

Bit of a kick in the teeth for him too given he has successfully fronted that show for 8 years - yet she is immediately given top billing.

If Simon and Jo are being paid the same (as the article says), does that mean that Simon has taken a 50% pay cut or are the licence payers paying twice as much for the drive time show?
It is really hard to see what Jo brings to the show (apart from most importantly, apparently, a uterus).

100% agree. Lt is an unfunny vacuous bint. squeezing pet toys to make a squeaky noise and thinking its funny...really? a full on case of unconscious incompetence.

+1 for what has happened to Paul Jones blues on a monday night too....what qualifies "right on" cerys matthews over Paul Jones?

as for drivetime... i miss matt and nigel barden - the confessions aren't the same even though they are the same if you get my drift.... i'll keep listening and give it time but i'm not overly impressed so far
