R2 now officially a "girl fest",

I have no issues with equality amongst broadcasters, but R2 has now officially lost the plot, and don't start me off on Ms Cox and her two hours of drivel every weekday evening.

Anyone read this ?

It seems you do have issues with equality.

Male presenters on R2 present for more than 25% more time than Female presenters (13.5hrs / 10.5hrs)

I have issues with st presenters. I loved Zoe Ball before she got this gig but her morning show really sucks ass...

I have to admit, them begging for 24 hours is a bit grating.

Take a tenner out of my licence fee and stfu.

Can't stand the Muppets song at 6pm every day followed by 'by your side til 7pm', yes, we know, it's the same every day.

The phrased and confused segment is just painful to listen to and the 21 questions bit is horrendous too.

I understand that they have to have repetitive content because that's what you do on the radio but I don't understand WHY that has to be the case...

Seconded, very tedious. Although I've just had a look at the live video feed on www.bbc.co.uk and it's quite interesting to see Ken at work.

Unfortunately he now appears to be interviewing Angela Scanlon who is another R2 voice that does my head in.

Sticks.

I gave up on it after a couple of listens. I've largely given up on R2 now.

Is this something new? I've not listened since Sara Cox took over.

Yes, but not all at once, there were about 6 on last night all just twittering rubbish at one another. It was like getting caught up in a hen night in Blackpool.
I turned it off, the silence was actually better.

I've taken a week off to do some decorating and I've just turned off Ken Bruce, that's a first for me but that's how bad the noise was... silence while painting now. smile

'Lifes a happy song' is her theme tune so to speak.

Every day, without fail, at 6pm (give or take a couple of minutes) she plays it and then says 'by your side til 7pm tonight', then reminds everyone Jo Whiley is on after her and someone after Jo doing some other show.

It's tedious. It's like local radio.

Whats it called I might give it a go?

Interestingly since I have retired I hardly listen to radio 2. I tend drift around stations.

I don't think it's anything to do with equality, more that the female presenters are, almost to a (wo)man, unremittingly st. And that's going some when they're being measured against the likes of Goodier, Blackburn and (woo) Garry Davis.

Johnnie Walker, Mark Radcliffe and Huey Morgan back to back would get my vote.

Just nipped out in the car at lunchtime and had the same experience - went over to Radio 6 (finally got a car with DAB) and then they started talking about the dance thing going on upstairs.. thankfully was back in the car park before they started broadcasting it as well.

As the female presenters go, all things considered I don't mind Zoe and quite enjoy Sara; it's Teal, Tarbuck and Paige who need put out to pasture.

at least the "longest ever red nose day dance-a-thon" is only once a year.

I must admit I like Zoe Ball on it takes two but she has got irritating very quickly. all her guests are "amazing", all their films, songs, books, theatre roles are "amazing", "wonderful", "fantastic" did I mention "amazing"????

its grating over the top gushing that is going to push me away to another station. I didn;t want Evans to leave and I appreciate I'm in the minority here, but the gulf in class and skill is obvious.

As for Drive time, I like sarah cox but there are too many gimmicks on the show....a patched up "confessions" element, the 21 questions garbage, the "Sarahs". I'll pass thanks.

Cerys Matthews' voice cloud9 and interesting programme. too.

With the Sounds app and a UK radio stations app on my phone and a bluetooth speaker, my radio is becoming redundant.

Yes I can see that day coming - Carplay support for Sounds would be nice, coming soon I believe.
