You’re not wrong! He did exactly that earlier this morning - ‘come and listen to me on another breakfast show’ comment.
I'm betting he won't make it to Christmas.

Hopefully they put that stuttering old bat Moira Stewart out to pasture as well.
Indeed an incredibly annoying woman, motor mouth can take that screeching sports presenter with him too. I’d like to see Mayo get the slot, as long as it’s not gobby Sara Cox.

He said Christmas Eve is to be his last show, so you're right, he won't make it to Christmas......just!

This is the perfect (face saving) opportunity for the BBC to sort out the mess they have created at Drivetime. Stick Jo “I must speak first” Whiley and Sara Cox on the breakfast show and revert to the original Drivetime DreamTeam line up of Simon, Matt, and Bobby.

It's just going from one annoying person to another annoying person. Same old. I have no liking for any of the potentials, except Mayo perhaps, but he's a man and we're not allowed to listen to them anymore. I am glad to see the back of Evans though.

I really like Virgin radio but the morning presenters (Sam & Amy) put me off slightly so i don't tend to listen on the morning commute. Chris Evans might change my mind.

Yes indeed, and very good it was too, in parts. "Bird or Bloke" was a good game, and one of the questions being "Mel B" dates it to when the Spice Girls were new.

I'm so glad I have a motorcycle & don't have to put up with fking DJs on my commute.
The only reason I can see that Evans' show is apparently so popular, is that the alternatives are ste: R4 non-stop politics at early o'clock? R1 teenager ste 'muzak'? R3 classical music?? I wouldn't include local stations, as reception in the car is usually patchy at best. Also, most cars/vans/lorries don't have DAB.
Seems like R2 have a monopoly at commuting time.
When I drive, I pretty much always bluetooth my phone & listen to Google Play Music downloads - no tts like Evans or any of other of the overpaid, chirpy retards.

Well, it does appear that you can, indeed, fool some of the people all of the time.

Somehow I doubt it. Radcliffe seems to get a bit chippy about the fact most people preferred him with Lard.

Probably come to nothing but strange that Danny Baker was off on Saturday, with the rather "unusual" combination of Radcliffe and Noddy Holder standing in.

9m people listen to him.

53m people choose not to.

Seems a pretty clear majority for the latter.
Wogan must have been shot then with only 8m
R4 Today must be st too
Heck top gear pulling in what an average of 5-6m viewers with only antiques roadshow on the other side must be st.

Heck when England played in the World Cup they only managed 20m odd viewers and pretty much everyone listened / watched it so he’s not far off getting HALF.

Also my 3 kids all 6 and under don’t listen to he radio at all - our 1 year old clearly wouldn’t enjoy it. As such your 62m U.K. population needs to be pulled apart to be actual radio listeners.
9m or at its peak 9.9m trumps everything else period so if it’s shot then al radio needs to go down the drains? Is that correct?
It neatly demonstrates what a daft idea it would be to ask his listeners whether they want to continue listening to him....

They have to pay his enormous fee, so I guess that every 15mins, you will have 5-mins of music; 5-mins of blather and 5-mins of nauseating adverts.

If I watch ITV, it is only with the help of my video-recorder so that I can skip the adds. No matter how good the content, I could never listen to any commercial radio, because of the number of adds that they pump out at me that are totally wide of my interests / taste.

The BBC license fee seems a small price to pay to avoid them.

Point of pedantry here, but the station Evans is going to isn't the one O'Connell has recently left.

O'Connell was on the original Virgin Radio which was later sold and renamed Absolute Radio (ten years ago in fact). That's the station O'Connell has recently left, and his successor (Dave Berry) is still there and staying there.
Evans is going to the new re-launched Virgin Radio. Different owners and entirely unconnected with the original Virgin / Absolute, other than that both licensed the same brand name from Branson.

PistonHeads. Pedantry Matters.
I did not know that. Interesting. I like a bit of Absolute Radio.

annoyingly - with digital radio - when the signal drops out, it seems to start you off with an advert overlay........... it's particularly annoying when in my car, and the signal keeps dropping out for things like Kerrang.............
