I like my early morning presenter to be fairly unobtrusive, so being assaulted by Evans, his crap and unfunny jingles, clown horns, tarzan cries etc, has meant either itchy teeth or a switch to Spotify.
I hate the way he frequently breaks into the middle of good music to either sing along or continue some earlier conversation he was having. Talk or play the music- don't try to do both.A single tarzan cry or "banana" isn't too bad but when he has six or eight repetitions it gets very annoying very quickly.
I quite enjoy him but I'm not as devastated by the news as I was with the Simon Mayo drivetime situation. Or the death of the Radcliffe and Maconie afternoon show on 6 Music come to that.
I think Sara Cox would be the best option as she does a great job when standing in for him, but I'll be honest - I could well be in a minority, but I'd love to hear Chris Moyles back on a breakfast show at the BBC.

I’d like to see how Simon mayos show would go if they traded jo Wiley for sarah cox .I think Sara Cox would be the best option as she does a great job when standing in for him, but I'll be honest - I could well be in a minority, but I'd love to hear Chris Moyles back on a breakfast show at the BBC.
All about him and not about the listener.
I think the high listeners for Chris Evans is related to the Marmite opinion of Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1 too.
Sam FM (South cost) breakfast show with Damien and Jules (spelling) is easily the most entertaining for me - both are old enough to not say slapstick stupid expressions (Kiss FM, Fire Fm, etc.) but are young enough to not constantly berate 'kids today'. Oh and they only play popular songs that aren't current - had Status Quo, Beautiful South, Phil Collins and Dexter's Midnight Runners this morning - what a lineup for the commute!

Hilarious to see his quote 'you've got to shake it up' before the announcement that his next job is exactly the same as his current one, presumably for more money. Good riddance.
And there was me thinking all that 'keep on climbing' stuff was a hint at a new, brave project. Instead it's a retrograde step, reducing his exposure drastically (but probably for more money) because his ego can't take the criticism. If he'd just decided to retire and pass the baton, citing his growing family I would have seriously respected the decision.
Just wondering how long it will be before 'TFI Friday' re-re-launches.

I love him on the radio, was never a fan of him on TV though
Interesting. I thought TFI Friday was great back in the day, made sure never to miss it. I haven't managed to gel with him on R2 though - I think it's because he has that habit I hate the most in a radio DJ - talking over the bloomin' records!Paddy_N_Murphy said:

In an era of streaming services what's the justifications for DJs?

Creativity and new influences. I believe the Chris Evan's show uses a playlist rather than relying on his musical judgement. The AI behind the average streaming service is probably perfectly able to make creative choices within defined parameters (e.g. don't start the Radio 2 morning show with MC5) and add new tracks based on the history of previous selections.

I reckon Greg James would be a good shout.
You could just re-tune to R1 to hear that, though. (With apologies to any parrots listening).Deranged Rover said:

No, I think I'd like to hear that as well. I only switched to R2 because Moyles left the R1 breakfast show, or more to the point because I couldn't put up with Grimmy's voice, which I find almost as annoying as the aforementioned Mr Brand. I do wonder whether it would be as good without the rest of the "gang", though, as the last I read there wouldn't be a reunion with Comedy Dave any time soon.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
