What is it with people and 'cutesy' baby names. I always think to myself "what happens when they are grown up and are going for job interviews" (although that's probably never going to be an issue for these kids).

By all means nickname them "Boo" or whatever whilst they are a cutesy baby - but at least given them a proper adult name that they can use on CVs etc.
Cursing your child with a stupid name, for reasons of self-indulgence and attention-seeking is a 100%, never-fails, copper-bottomed indicator of a .

Never. Ever. Fails.

Should you meet someone with a stupid name, please cut them some slack. Not because they have a stupid name, but because their dad is certainly a .

Good example. There are many, many more. And there seems to be a three-sided correlation between being famous (or wanting to be famous), being a , and calling your children stupid names. I'm not sure of the chain of causality, but there's definitely a correlation.

Blessed is he who having made it in showbiz called his son John.
I don't suppose just for a minute it could be something as simple as the kids names get publicised because the parents are famous, so hence you hear about them?
There are plenty of 'normal' people out there who give their kids stupid names, but they don't get the press publishing them.

Absolutely there are, but the point of attention seeking still applies.

I come across these nutters every day, including the one who named his son after every player in the 2000 Scottish Cup winning Rangers team.

Hey, I'm not obsessive; just curious. I don't follow you about on every thread or comment on all your posts. I'm still just curious as to your seemingly pointless campaign to have a dig at CE every time his name appears on PH. You seem to be avoiding the question. Did a nasty ginger man touch you 'down there' when you were a little boy? I can't think of any other reason for your irrational tirades.

But by that argument you'd also hear about celeb babies with names like Steve, Dave, Joanne, Samantha etc

I have no doubt there are some stupid kids names about. I used to work as a professional photographer, shooting at kids football tournaments, and you'd hear some pretty weird names (likely with even weirder spelling) being called from the touchline. Interestingly the attitude of the player and their propensity for fouls, hissy fits etc seemed to correlate quite well with the ridiculousness of the name biggrin

The point that was made was not that stupid names are the sole preserve of celebs - but that that the incidence amongst celebs seems higher than in the general population (probably because the propensity for narcissism and attention seeking is also higher amongst celebs).

Such bitterness is very telling.
His wife is involved in this too remember.
Those names are not to my taste either, but some of these comments...

Quite. I think the names are ok, name fashions come and go.

I've just figured out who you are, Adrian Chiles.

You must still be bitter about that 'The One Show' business.

I know where you are coming from, but Chiles is his own form of idiot.

Suffice to say Evans will make money, but no-one ever makes money investing in Evans.

There is an unwritten rule.

If your parents are leaving you a massive inheritance, top class education and contacts, they can call you whatever the fk they want!!

I would have preferred Sara Cox to Zoe Ball. I don't mind her doing the odd stand in shift but don't think I could listen to her on a permanent basis. Will be listening to my local BBC radio station until Ken Bruce starts at 9-30.

Genuine question are you retired or have an office place where radio is on all the time to a station of your selection?

No, I work shifts so either listen to the radio at home in the mornings or in the car sometimes on my way in to work depending on my shift times. I can also listen to the radio at work if I choose and will have it on Radio 2 most of the time there.

Actually I don't mind Graham Norton now he's back on Saturday mornings but you can keep the other five in your list, thanks. Especially Alan Carr.
