Exactly. If I had as much money and spare time as Mr Evans I'd like to think I'd spend a fair bit of both on worthy causes – and I'd also like to think I wouldn't make a big din about it. He doesn't come across as an unconditionally generous type.

That's just in your mind, though.

But him "making a big din about it" is what has encouraged others to chip in and raise £40-odd million.

Sure, he could keep quiet, not say anything and he could donate a million, maybe two, with no fanfare whatsoever, but that would still be a long way short of the total

To be fair he had a little bit more interest in auctioning off his fleet of cars to drive for the day that you might with :

Volkswagen Golf Cabrio 2.0 Colour Concept
Kawasaki ZRX1200 green!
Volkswagen Golf Mk 4 GT TDI 150
Yamaha Townmate T80
Less chance the cars would sell for massively under estimate or just not sell. Do you not think Evans's game has been to raise the value of his own car collection rather than helping the little kiddies.

Just a thought but it strikes me RJG46 doesn't like Evans.
I am not a fan of his but I do know he is more than generous with his time and his Cars.

For clarity- you think he is helping raise the value of his own cars - typically garage queens - by letting members of the public, strangers, drive them about and put mileage on the cars.

Is that your actual theory ??
Are these the same cars that he had painted white? That'll do much to increase their value too, I imagine.

Of course not, but one would question why bother posting on a topic you don't like. I'm not a big bike fan, so don't bother posting made up ste on the bike forums.

I think the global boom in classic/performance cars in the past decade or so has had slightly more impact.

Bloody hell, I sometimes worry I'm a bit too cynical.

According to Private Eye he is playing the big I am at Virgin, knocking back studios offered to him and ending up being given a freshly upgraded suite that a number of poorly accommodated Talksport journos have been waiting years for.
I can't believe that,he's so humble.
Back when he started out and got the job on the Big Breakfast Show he interviewed a car club, might of been Lada or Allegro club or one of them type of cars and I remember then him half taking the piss out of the bloke saying "Have you had Rod Stewart want to join your club?" (obviously RS is famous for owning Ferrari's) and I remember at the time thinking he was a then, mind you he's got a good face for radio.
Whatever you might say about CE I'm certain he wouldn't say of when he means 've, or them when he means those or spell Ferraris with an apostrophe
